CA-E100 Programmable Logic Controller Module

The CA-E100 is a compact yet powerful programmable logic controller module designed for medium-scale automation applications. It combines a high-speed processor, ample memory, and versatile I/O capabilities in a rugged housing suitable for harsh industrial environments. This module serves as the central processing unit for control systems, executing user-defined logic with high reliability and determinism.

Processor and Memory

The CA-E100 features a 32-bit RISC processor running at 200 MHz, providing fast execution of Boolean and arithmetic operations. User program memory is 512 KB, sufficient for complex ladder diagrams, function blocks, and structured text. Data memory includes 128 KB for internal variables, timers, counters, and retentive storage. An additional 2 MB of flash memory is available for firmware updates and data logging.

I/O Configuration

The module offers built-in digital and analog I/O points: 16 digital inputs (24 VDC), 16 digital outputs (transistor, 0.5 A), and 4 analog inputs (0-10 V or 4-20 mA). Expansion is possible via a local bus that supports up to 8 additional I/O modules, extending the total I/O count to several hundred points. Each I/O channel is protected against overvoltage and short circuits, ensuring robustness in field wiring.


Communication Interfaces

The CA-E100 is equipped with two Ethernet ports (10/100 Mbps) supporting Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and proprietary protocols. It also includes one RS-232 and one RS-485 serial port for legacy device integration. The module supports peer-to-peer communication, allowing multiple CA-E100 units to share data and coordinate operations without a central host.

Programming Environment

Programming is accomplished using the CA Studio software, which supports all five IEC 61131-3 languages: Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, Instruction List, and Sequential Function Chart. The software includes built-in simulation, online debugging, and real-time monitoring features. Users can also create custom function blocks and libraries for reuse across projects.


Applications and Use Cases

The CA-E100 is ideal for packaging machines, conveyor systems, material handling, and building automation. Its flexibility also suits water pumping stations, ventilation controls, and small-scale process skids. The module's compact size and DIN-rail mounting make it easy to integrate into control cabinets with limited space.

Environmental and Electrical Specifications

Operating temperature ranges from -20°C to +60°C, with storage from -40°C to +85°C. The module is rated for 24 VDC input power, with reverse polarity protection. It complies with IEC 61131-2 and CE standards, offering high noise immunity and vibration resistance.

Installation and Commissioning

Installation involves securing the module on a DIN rail, connecting power, and wiring I/O terminals. The module auto-detects connected expansion modules upon power-up. Commissioning is streamlined with a guided wizard in the software, which checks for wiring errors and configures default parameters.
