Kongsberg M410-10 Alarm Monitoring Panel

The Kongsberg M410-10 is a compact and reliable alarm monitoring panel designed for marine and offshore applications. As part of the M410 series, this panel provides clear visual and audible indication of alarms from machinery systems, safety equipment, and process control loops. Its robust construction and user-friendly interface make it ideal for installation in engine control rooms, bridge consoles, and offshore platform control stations.

Technical Specifications

  • Display: LED indicators for each alarm channel

  • Alarm channels: Configurable up to 10 individual inputs

  • Audible alarm: Internal buzzer with adjustable volume

  • Input types: Normally open or normally closed dry contacts

  • Power supply: 24 V DC (18 to 32 V DC range)

  • Protection: IP66 front panel, IP20 rear

  • Operating temperature: -15°C to +55°C

Functional Description

The M410-10 monitors up to ten individual alarm inputs, each associated with a dedicated LED indicator. When an alarm condition is detected, the corresponding LED flashes and the internal buzzer sounds. The operator can acknowledge the alarm via the front panel button, which changes the LED from flashing to steady and silences the buzzer. If the alarm condition persists, the LED remains lit until the fault is cleared. This sequence aligns with standard marine alarm system practices and ensures clear operator awareness.

Configuration and Input Options

Each alarm input can be individually configured for normally open or normally closed contact operation. The panel accepts dry contact signals from a wide range of sensors and equipment, including temperature switches, pressure switches, level switches, and safety interlocks. Inputs are isolated to prevent interference from other systems. An optional common alarm relay output is available for integration with central alarm systems or remote annunciators.

User Interface

The front panel features a clean layout with large, high-visibility LED indicators. Each channel is clearly labeled with engraved text that can be customized during installation. The acknowledge button is centrally located for easy access, and a lamp test button allows verification of all LEDs. An external buzzer silence contact can be connected for remote silencing. The panel can be flush-mounted or surface-mounted, with gaskets providing a watertight seal against the mounting surface.

Applications

The M410-10 is used in a variety of marine and industrial settings where reliable alarm annunciation is required:

  • Engine control rooms for monitoring main engine, generators, and auxiliary systems

  • Bridge consoles for navigation and steering alarms

  • Offshore platform control rooms for process and safety alarms

  • Compressor and pump stations

  • Fire and gas detection systems

  • Machinery spaces where localized alarm indication is needed

Construction and Environmental Protection

The M410-10 is housed in a rugged steel enclosure with a powder-coated finish. The front panel meets IP66 requirements, making it resistant to water jets and dust ingress, suitable for marine environments. The rear terminals are IP20 protected for safe installation inside cabinets. The panel is designed to withstand the vibration and shock conditions typical of ships and offshore installations.

Installation and Wiring

Installation involves mounting the panel in a suitable location and connecting field wiring to the rear terminal strip. The terminal strip is clearly labeled and accepts wires up to 2.5 mm². Power supply connection should be fused according to the vessel’s electrical system. The panel can be integrated with existing alarm systems or function as a standalone annunciator. Wiring diagrams and installation instructions are provided with the unit.

Certifications

The M410-10 is type-approved by major classification societies including DNV, Lloyd’s Register, ABS, and Bureau Veritas for marine use. It complies with applicable IEC standards for electromagnetic compatibility and safety. The panel is manufactured under ISO 9001 quality management.

Maintenance

Maintenance requirements are minimal. Periodic inspection of the front panel seals and terminal connections is recommended. The LEDs have an expected service life of over 50,000 hours. Replacement of the internal buzzer or power supply components, if needed, can be performed by qualified personnel.

With its reliable alarm annunciation and robust construction, the Kongsberg M410-10 provides a dependable solution for alarm monitoring in demanding marine and industrial environments.
