The Load Controls PH-3A is a high-performance three-phase power sensor designed for industrial equipment monitoring. Using Hall-effect technology, it directly measures true power (watts or horsepower) without the need for external current or voltage transformers. This eliminates phase-shift errors at low power factors and provides accurate load measurement for motors, pumps, conveyors, and other machinery.
Measurement Type: Three-phase true power (watts or horsepower)
Frequency Range: DC to 1 kHz (suitable for fixed and variable frequency loads)
Output Signals: 0-5V, 0-10V, 4-20mA, 0-1mA (field configurable)
Response Time: 15 ms (adjustable delay 0.06 to 1 second)
Accuracy/Repeatability: ±5%
Operating Temperature: -20°C to +55°C
Output Impedance Requirements: 10V output: ≥2 kΩ; 4-20mA output: ≤500 Ω
Calibration: Field calibration via 8-pin resistor network
Applications: Machine power monitoring, pump load control, energy management

The PH-3A's 15 ms response time allows it to capture dynamic load changes, making it suitable for detecting machine overloads, tool wear, and process variations. The analog output can be connected directly to PLCs, DCS systems, or chart recorders for continuous monitoring. The adjustable time delay prevents nuisance alarms during momentary load spikes. The sensor's compact design and direct connection method simplify installation in existing control cabinets.
The Load Controls PH-3A is used in machine tool monitoring for optimizing energy usage, in pump control to detect dry-running or impeller wear, in conveyor systems to detect material jams, and in research and development for power measurement experiments. It is particularly suitable for applications where external current transformers are impractical or where variable frequency drives are present.
