Mitsubishi NF1600-SEW Molded Case Circuit Breaker

The Mitsubishi NF1600-SEW is a high-capacity molded case circuit breaker from the Mitsubishi WS Series, designed for reliable overcurrent and short-circuit protection in industrial power distribution systems. This NF-S Type breaker belongs to the standard class of MCCBs, featuring a robust construction and high interrupting capacity suitable for demanding applications. The NF1600-SEW is intended for AC circuits, providing protection for feeders, branch circuits, and equipment against overload conditions and fault currents.

Technical Specifications

The NF1600-SEW has a frame size of 1600 A and a rated current of 1600 A with adjustable trip settings from 800 to 1600 A (Ir). The rated voltage is 690 V AC, with breaking capacity Icu/Ics of 85/43 kA at AC 440 V. The number of poles is available in both 3-pole (3P) and 4-pole (4P) configurations. The automatic tripping device is electronic, providing precise and adjustable protection characteristics. The breaker complies with EN 60947-2 and IEC 60947-2 international standards. Mechanical endurance is rated at 500 cycles with rated current and 3000 cycles without rated current.

Protection Functions

The electronic trip unit provides adjustable overload protection with configurable trip curves and short-circuit protection with high-speed interruption for fault clearing. The NF1600-SEW is suitable for use in main distribution panels, feeder circuits, and equipment protection applications. The adjustable trip range from 800 to 1600 A allows the breaker to be configured for specific load requirements, providing flexibility in system design. The breaker offers both thermal and magnetic protection characteristics optimized for industrial power distribution.

Design and Construction

The NF1600-SEW features a compact design relative to its high current rating, with physical dimensions of 406 mm height, 280 mm width, and 190 mm depth. The weight is 41.2 kg for the 4-pole version. The breaker is certified for CE, EAC, and UKCA compliance, and is RoHS compliant for environmental regulations. The WS Series MCCBs are known for their reliable operation and long service life in demanding industrial environments. The breaker is designed for panel mounting in switchgear assemblies and motor control centers.

Applications

The Mitsubishi NF1600-SEW is deployed in industrial power distribution applications requiring high-current circuit protection. Typical applications include main incoming protection for industrial switchboards, feeder protection in manufacturing facilities, branch circuit protection for heavy equipment such as large compressors and industrial furnaces, and motor circuit protection for high-power motors. The breaker is also used in power distribution panels in commercial buildings with high electrical loads, in infrastructure facilities such as data centers and hospitals, and in any installation requiring reliable overcurrent and short-circuit protection for circuits up to 1600 A at 690 V AC.
