OMRON’s NQ series industrial Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), including models NQ3-TQ010-B and NQ5-TQ010-B, are compact touch screen terminals designed to provide intuitive operator control and real time visualization for industrial automation systems. The NQ5-TQ010-B features a 5.7 inch QVGA TFT color display with LED backlight, 256 colors (32,000 colors for images), and a resistive touch screen for reliable gloved hand operation. The NQ3 variant offers the same core functionality but with additional configuration options suited for simpler HMI requirements in the same family.
Engineered for direct connection to PLCs and other controllers, the NQ series HMIs incorporate multiple communication interfaces including Ethernet, dual serial ports (RS-232C and RS-485), USB host and USB slave ports, along with six programmable function keys. This feature set allows operators to monitor machine status, modify setpoints, acknowledge alarms, and initiate production sequences from a single centralized operator panel.

5.7 inch QVGA TFT color display with LED backlight for superior visibility in varying ambient lighting conditions, even in machine environments with moderate ambient light.
Resistive touch screen technology ensures reliable operation with gloved fingers and responds to stylus input for precise control of small on screen elements.
Integrated 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port enables high speed communication with PLCs, drives, and other networked devices, supporting OMRON’s FINS protocol and generic socket services.
Two RS-232C/485 serial ports with selectable protocols provide connectivity to legacy controllers, barcode scanners, printers, and other serial devices without requiring separate converters.
USB host port allows data logging to USB flash drives for production traceability, recipe management, and firmware updates without a PC.
USB slave port provides direct programming connection for screen development and project transfer from a PC, accelerating commissioning and change management.
Six programmable function keys provide dedicated pushbutton access to frequently used functions, emergency stops, page navigation, or machine start/stop commands.
Intuitive screen design software allows creation of custom user interfaces with data logging, alarm handling, and multi language text support.
The OMRON NQ series touch panel HMIs are ideally suited for machine level operator interfaces where cost effective visualization and control are required. Typical applications include packaging machines where operators need to set bag length and seal temperature; CNC machine tools requiring tool offset entry and program selection; injection molding machines for setting clamp pressure and injection speed; and food processing equipment for batch parameter management and sanitation tracking.
In building automation, NQ panels serve as local operator terminals for air handling units, boiler control panels, and chiller plant interfaces. Their rugged construction and wide operating temperature range make them suitable for factory floor installations where exposure to dust, vibration, and temperature variations is common. Combined with OMRON CJ, NJ, or CP series PLCs, these HMIs provide complete machine automation solutions from sensor to operator screen.
