The Omron NX-PD7001 is a dedicated power supply unit for the NX series I/O system. It converts an external 24 VDC supply into regulated power for the CPU and NX bus modules while also providing isolated 24 VDC for field devices. With 70 W output capacity, it can power a mix of up to 10 NX units (depending on consumption).
Input voltage: 24 VDC (20.4 to 28.8 V).
Input current: 3.5 A max.
Output voltage (system): 5 VDC (internal bus), 24 VDC (field power).
Total output power: 70 W (combination of 5V and 24V).
Efficiency: 88% at rated load.
Inrush current protection: active limiting.
The NX-PD7001 attaches to the left side of an NX-series CPU (e.g., NX1P2, NX102) or can be used as an additional power supply unit in an NX I/O rack. It supplies the NX bus communication power (5 V) to all subsequent units and also distributes 24 V field power to NX I/O modules via the internal power supply bus. For larger configurations, multiple power supply units can be placed at intervals.
Status LEDs: PWR (green) for output OK, ALM (red) for overload/short circuit. The unit communicates error conditions (e.g., insufficient field voltage) to the CPU, which can be read via Sysmac Studio. Optional error output (terminal block) signals power failure to external devices.
Protections include overcurrent (foldback mode, automatic recovery), overvoltage (clamp at 28 V), overtemperature (shutdown at 95°C case), and short circuit on both 5V and 24V outputs. The unit is double-insulated (Class II), no ground required. Meets EN 60950-1 and EN 62368-1.
Dimensions: 102 mm (H) x 48 mm (W) x 90 mm (D). Weight: 210 g. Mounting on 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715). Terminals: removable screw-type (0.2-2.5 mm²). Wire temperature rating: 75°C min. Operating temperature: -10°C to +55°C (derating above 50°C: 2.5% per °C). Storage: -25°C to +75°C. IP20 protection.

In Sysmac Studio, the NX-PD7001 is automatically recognized when building a configuration. The software provides power consumption calculations and alerts if total load exceeds 70 W. For safety applications, use the NX-PD7001 only with NX-series safety CPU and safety I/O modules as per Omron's guidelines.
Typical applications include machine automation cells, packaging lines, and robotic control systems where NX I/O provides digital and analog inputs/outputs. The unit supports hot swapping of NX modules downstream only (no hot swap of the power supply itself).
CE marked, UL 61010-1, CSA C22.2, DNV GL (marine), KC, CCC. RoHS and REACH compliant. Also certified for ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 (when installed in appropriate enclosure). The unit meets EN 61000-6-2 (industrial immunity) and EN 61000-6-4 (emissions).
