Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-UFC-1.D Universal Frequency Converter
The Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-UFC-1.D is a universal frequency converter (signal conditioner) designed for industrial automation and process control applications. It converts frequency signals from NAMUR sensors, 2/3-wire sensors, or dry contacts into a standard analog output (0/4-20 mA) and provides relay/transistor switching outputs. Certified for SIL 2 per IEC 61508, it is suitable for safety-related applications in hazardous areas.

Configuration and Functions
The KFD2-UFC-1.D features flexible configuration via PC or control panel. Each output can be individually parameterized with trip values (high/low alarms), serially switched output modes, pulse divider functions, or error message outputs. The device includes start-up override (1 to 1000 seconds), restart inhibit, debounce filter, and comprehensive line fault detection (LFD) for sensor breakage and short-circuit conditions. The analog output (0/4-20 mA) is linearly proportional to the input frequency and supports NAMUR NE43 fault signaling (downscale ≤3.6 mA, upscale ≥21.5 mA).

The KFD2-UFC-1.D is ideal for frequency monitoring of rotating machinery (speed monitoring of conveyors, pumps, fans), flow measurement (turbine flowmeters), counting applications, and position sensing. Its SIL 2 certification makes it suitable for safety instrumented systems (SIS) requiring reliable frequency-to-analog conversion. The device is compatible with Pepperl+Fuchs Power Rail for simplified power distribution and is widely used in chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, and power generation industries.
