The Pilz P1U-1NB is a compact safety relay from the PNOZ X series, designed for emergency stop, safety gate, and light curtain monitoring applications. It provides a reliable means to safely disconnect hazardous machine motion when a safety function is triggered. The unit features forced-guided relay contacts and is certified to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) CL and Performance Level (PL) e according to EN ISO 13849-1.
Supply Voltage: 24 V DC (21.6-26.4 V)
Power Consumption: 2.5 W
Safety Contacts: 2 normally open (NO), 1 normally closed (NC) - forced-guided
Auxiliary Contact: 1 normally open (NO) - non-safety
Contact Rating: 6 A at 230 V AC (resistive), 5 A at 24 V DC
Safety Integrity Level: SIL CL (IEC 61508), PL e (EN ISO 13849-1)
Response Time:<30 ms
Inputs: 2 channels for emergency stop (redundant)
Recovery Time: 30 ms (after reset)
Operating Temperature: -10°C to +55°C
Dimensions: 90 × 45 × 87 mm
Mounting: DIN rail (35 mm)
Certifications: CE, UL, TÜV, cULus

The P1U-1NB monitors the status of a dual-channel emergency stop switch or guard door contact. When both inputs are closed (safe state), the internal relays energize, closing the safety outputs. If either input opens, the safety outputs open within 30 ms, removing power from the machine's hazard. The unit features a cross-circuit detection and short-circuit monitoring function. An external reset button is required to re-enable the outputs after a safety event.
This safety relay is widely used in machine tools, packaging machinery, presses, and conveyor systems. It is suitable for safety applications up to Category 4 (EN 954-1) and PL e (ISO 13849-1). The compact size allows it to fit into small control cabinets.
The unit has LED indicators for power (green) and channel status (yellow). It is designed for simple screw-terminal wiring. The P1U-1NB meets the requirements of EN 60204-1 for emergency stop devices.
