The SHINKAWA VM-5H3 is a rugged 8-slot rack chassis designed as the central infrastructure for the VM-5 series machinery protection and condition monitoring system. This 19-inch rack-mountable chassis provides mechanical and electrical support for up to eight VM-5 series monitoring modules, enabling comprehensive protection for turbines, compressors, and other critical rotating equipment.
The VM-5H3 accommodates a complete range of VM-5 series modules including vibration monitors, displacement monitors, differential expansion monitors, speed monitors, and phase reference modules. The passive backplane provides power distribution and signal routing between modules, while the modular design allows flexible configuration to meet specific application requirements. The chassis supports installation of VM-5Z series power supplies and VM-53 communication units for system integration.
Constructed from cold-rolled steel with anti-static coating, the VM-5H3 provides electromagnetic shielding and mechanical rigidity for reliable operation in industrial environments. The chassis dimensions of 483 mm width, 266 mm height, and 300 mm depth conform to standard 19-inch rack specifications, with mounting flanges for cabinet installation. The front-to-back layout separates module access from rear wiring connections, simplifying maintenance and cable management.

The VM-5H3 backplane integrates power distribution and communication buses across all installed modules. The rear panel provides connections for field wiring to individual modules, with modular connectors simplifying installation. The chassis supports both redundant and single power supply configurations, with alarm summing logic that consolidates module alarm outputs for connection to plant control systems.
Designed to meet American Petroleum Institute API 670 standards for machinery protection systems, the VM-5H3 provides the structural and electrical integrity required for critical equipment monitoring in petrochemical, power generation, and other heavy industries. The chassis design ensures reliable operation in environments with vibration, temperature variation, and electromagnetic interference.
