TE.CO TFX 4G 1.5 ST Grey Flexible Cable (500 m) for PLC Coils and Control Circuits

The TE.CO TFX 4G 1.5 ST is a 500‑meter reel of grey, multi‑core flexible cable designed for industrial control and power applications. The “4G” indicates four conductors (phase, neutral, earth) each with a cross‑section of 1.5 mm². The “ST” designation signifies a screened (shielded) variant, with an overall tinned copper braid providing excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection. This cable is particularly suited for connecting PLC output coils, solenoid valves, and low‑power motors in automated machinery.

Conductor and Insulation

Each core is made of finely stranded bare copper (Class 5 according to IEC 60228), ensuring high flexibility for installation in cable carriers or tight bends. The conductor diameter is approximately 1.5 mm. Each core is individually insulated with PVC (polyvinyl chloride) compound, colour‑coded according to HD 308 S2: brown, blue, green/yellow (earth), and black (for extra neutral). The insulation thickness is 0.6 mm, rated for 300/500 V. Maximum conductor temperature: 70 °C under continuous operation, 160 °C under short‑circuit conditions.


Shielding and Outer Sheath

An aluminium‑polyester tape is wrapped around the bundled cores, overlapped by a tinned copper braid (coverage 85%). This double shielding provides protection against both high‑ and low‑frequency interference, making the cable suitable for analog signals and PWM‑driven PLC outputs. The outer sheath is grey PVC, UV‑resistant and oil‑resistant (to a moderate degree). Sheath thickness 1.0 mm. Outer diameter is approximately 8.5 mm. The cable has a smooth surface, allowing easy pulling through conduits.

Electrical and Mechanical Ratings

Rated voltage: 300/500 V. Test voltage: 2000 V for 5 minutes. Conductor resistance at 20 °C: ≤ 13.3 Ω/km (for 1.5 mm² copper). Insulation resistance: > 20 MΩ·km. Operating temperature: fixed installation ‑40 to +80 °C; flexible use ‑5 to +70 °C. Minimum bending radius: 10 × OD for fixed installation, 15 × OD for flexible. The cable is flame retardant according to IEC 60332‑1‑2 (self‑extinguishing).

Application in PLC Systems

This TFX 4G 1.5 ST cable is ideal for wiring PLC output modules (e.g., OMRON CJ1W‑OC211, Siemens SM322) to relay coils, contactor coils, and solenoid valves. The 1.5 mm² cross‑section can safely carry up to 16 A (chassis wiring) or 10 A (in conduit), sufficient for most PLC outputs (typical 0.5‑2 A per point). With four cores, one cable can supply power (brown/blue) and control a single load (black) with an earth (green/yellow) — or be used for three separate signals plus common. The screening reduces false triggering due to nearby power cables or VFDs.

Certifications and Standards

The TE.CO TFX cable complies with CE (Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU), RoHS (2011/65/EU), and REACH. It also meets VDE 0281‑5, HD 21.5 S3, and IEC 60227‑5. The product is marked with “TE.CO TFX 4G 1.5 ST 500m” along the sheath every metre.

Handling and Installation

The cable is supplied on a heavy‑duty wooden reel (500 m). For best results, use a cable roller to avoid twisting. Strip the outer sheath using a ring knife; the shielding braid can be terminated with a grounding clamp or soldered to a ground lug. The colour‑coded cores make identification straightforward. This cable is also suitable for interconnecting remote I/O blocks, limit switch circuits, and encoder power supply lines.
