At the same time, China has begun to promote the use of shore power by ships docking in 2010, and has accumulated a lot of technical and management experience. Based on the situation that the operation standards of shore power system for international sailing ships are blank and there is a large potential risk for ships docking to connect shore power, China has led the completion of the Guidelines for the Safe Operation of shore Power System for International sailing Ships. It provides Chinese wisdom for the green development of international shipping.
Finally, China actively research and develop emission reduction technologies to promote the green transformation of international shipping. In order to meet the requirements of shipping energy conservation and emission reduction, China's relevant institutions continue to promote the research and development of shipping emission reduction technology. For example, during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, China began to promote the "oil to electricity" work of the wheeled container gantry crane (RTG) widely used in container terminals, and has built a number of fully electric automated container terminals with the world's leading production scale and operational efficiency, using electric drive automatic guided vehicles to complete horizontal transportation. All these have greatly reduced air pollutant emissions and direct greenhouse gas emissions in the port area. In addition, in order to achieve the IMO "sulfur limit order", China supports relevant agencies to carry out the development of ship retrofitting exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS) technology in advance, and a number of enterprises have been able to provide technologically mature exhaust gas cleaning systems to meet the global market needs of ship retrofitting exhaust gas cleaning system. For the world's international navigation ships timely meet the IMO 2020 Marine fuel sulfur limit requirements to create conditions.
For a long time, China attaches importance to the emission reduction of the shipping industry, and the measures to promote the high-quality development of shipping are clear and specific, laying the foundation for China's shipping industry to achieve carbon peak as soon as possible. At present, relevant institutions in China are still developing or applying power batteries or hydrogen fuel cells to drive transport ships, and some ports are developing the practice of manufacturing power battery driven port tugs, which will provide new experience and programs for international shipping emission reduction.
