One year nucleated bud, two years old branches and leaves. Since it was approved as the 13th national manufacturing innovation center and the first national manufacturing innovation center in Jiangsu Province in June 2019, the National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Innovation Center") has focused on key common technologies such as chemical fiber oil industrialization, antimony-free fiber and flame retardant fiber research and development, and built a collaborative innovation public service platform. From the implementation of capacity building for technology development, testing and verification, pilot incubation, achievement transformation, investment and financing, and talent training to the blueprint of future sustainable development, the rapid progress has achieved remarkable results.

This year is the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and coincides with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, which is a good time to summarize and release the construction results of the innovation center in the past two years and look forward to the future development. On May 12, sponsored by Innovation Center and Donghua University, and co-organized by China Chemical Fiber Industry Association, Shenghong Holding Group Co., Ltd. and Innovation Center alliance units, the Advanced fiber new material Technology Innovation high-quality Development Forum was held in Beijing. The theme of the forum is "New stage, new concept, new pattern", and the nine words outline the construction and development of innovation center into the historical process of national and industrial development, which is meaningful.

Set up a new bureau for innovation system development

"The new material industry is a strategic, basic industry, but also a key area of high-tech competition, we must strive to catch up and catch up." 

As an important part of new materials, advanced functional fibers are based on technological breakthroughs and cross-integration in the fields of materials, information, machinery, biology and other disciplines, and pay more attention to functional innovation, strengthening and composite, with lightweight, multi-functional, intelligent, preferred orientation and other characteristics. It has the excellent characteristics of ultra-high performance, high cost performance, high added value, high industrial pulling effect and low carbon green; A new generation of fiber with high permeability, subversive and revolutionary improvement effect on traditional industries. Advanced functional fibers are related to many areas of national security and the lifeblood of the national economy, are of great significance to improve the national industrial level and comprehensive national strength, are an important support for the realization of manufacturing power, and are one of the key areas of manufacturing innovation and development. From consumer goods, to national defense, military, aerospace and other national strategic materials, advanced functional fibers are indispensable, which has become an important breakthrough in the national supply side structural reform, and will become an important supporting force for practicing the "domestic cycle, international and domestic double cycle" in the future.

Miao Hangen, chairman of Shenghong Holding Group, the lead unit of the innovation center, said in his speech that at present, the global sales of advanced functional fibers have exceeded 50 billion US dollars, with an average annual growth rate of more than 20%, and they have broad market space and growth potential in the fields of comfort and health, ecological environment, transportation, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable development. Will become the future global manufacturing development strategy must contend for high ground.

From a global point of view, driven by a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change, the global fiber material industry relies on the technological and industrial advantages of each country, competing to seize the strategic vantage point of each subdivision, and has implemented the "re-industrialization" strategy to increase the research and development of advanced functional fibers.

As far as China is concerned, in recent years, a series of national initiatives such as the "Made in China 2025" strategic planning, "Manufacturing Innovation Center construction project Implementation Guide" and so on have strongly promoted the rapid development of the manufacturing industry, including fiber new materials industry. China's "13th Five-Year" development Guidance for Chemical fiber Industry "and" New Material Industry Development Guide ", etc., all regard functional fibers, high-performance carbon fibers, aramid and other high-performance fibers and composite materials, bio-based fibers as the focus of industrial development. The "14th Five-Year Plan" and the 2035 Vision Goal Proposal clearly put forward that it is necessary to build a comprehensive national science center and regional innovation highland, improve the overall efficiency of the innovation chain, fight hard battles for key core technologies, and make deployment for the development of strategic emerging industries, including new materials. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China's textile industry listed the continuous innovation and upgrading of fiber materials as a key task, and took differentiated multifunctional fibers, high-performance fibers, and bio-based chemical fibers as an important direction to accelerate the high-quality development of fiber materials.

As an important innovation carrier and platform in the field of new fiber materials, the innovation center shoulders major missions such as breakthroughs in key core technologies, aggregation and amplification of scientific and technological innovation resources, and construction of a new development pattern for the world's chemical fiber powers. "Building this important platform carrier, fully aggregating the best innovation resources in the industry, accelerating the research of key core technologies, and accelerating the application and transformation of innovation achievements are the responsibilities and missions of leading units including Shenghong Group and Donghua University, as well as all shareholder units and innovation alliance units." Muhengen also stressed.

Over the past two years, the Innovation Center has adhered to its positioning as an industry-wide innovation collaboration platform, and the shareholder units and innovation alliance units have actively invested in innovation resources and integrated innovation elements, and the construction has progressed smoothly, and a number of key core technologies have made breakthroughs and entered the stage of achievement transformation. In this regard, Miao Hangen summed up the "three systems" : Around the direction of functional fiber new materials, high-end fiber materials and textiles, and cutting-edge fiber new materials, the innovation center has established a technological innovation supply system supported by "key laboratory", "pilot test base" and "national textile testing Center"; The number of shareholder units increased from 9 to 14, and the number of innovation alliance units increased from 15 to 131, covering the complete industrial chain of domestic textile fibers, and establishing a collaborative innovation system of in-depth cooperation between industry, university and research. At the same time, the innovation Center aims at advanced functional fibers and information, machinery, biology and other disciplines to make technological breakthroughs and cross-integration, carry out a series of capacity building, and explore the construction of an integrated innovation system with an industrial chain layout innovation chain. The construction of these three systems realizes the full coverage from point to surface, from a single link to industrial ecology, provides the industry with cross-field key common technology research and development, engineering verification and industrialization support, lays a solid foundation for strengthening the strategic scientific and technological strength in the field of advanced functional fibers, and also holds the initiative for development. Enhancing the core competitiveness of China's advanced functional fiber industry has added strong momentum.

At present, China is facing "a century of great changes", the macro situation at home and abroad is complex and changeable, key materials and core technologies are subject to people, there are many blind spots in the transformation of results, and the proportion of industrialization is low, which will continue to exist for a period of time. How will the innovation Center develop in this context? Miao Hangen said that the innovation center will focus on the construction requirements of the national manufacturing innovation center, as well as the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the 2035 vision target outline, focusing on creating "a pilot base", building "four key laboratories" and "three service platforms", and accelerating the "application and transformation of four scientific research achievements". As the leading unit, Shenghong will unite all shareholder units and alliance units, continue to play the main role of innovation, with "facing the world's scientific and technological frontier, facing the main battlefield of economy, facing the major needs of the country, facing the life and health of the people" as the starting point and goal, and do a good job in the construction of innovation center "booster" and "main force". In the capital, talent, technology, market and other elements, to provide full support for the construction of the center.

For the future development of the Innovation Center, Sun Ruizhe also put forward three suggestions:

First, we will accelerate the formation of a leading strategic scientific and technological force with quality as the core. We will strengthen top-level planning and focus on innovation in key areas. Focusing on the change of basic properties of fiber and the expansion of derivative properties, strengthening basic research and technology accumulation, focusing on original innovation, and promoting the development of new fiber materials in the direction of more high-performance, multi-functional, lightweight and flexible. Fully integrate into the digital economy, and promote the breakthrough of key core technologies and the improvement of technological iteration ability of fiber manufacturing.

Second, take efficiency as the core, and strive to create a collaborative industrial innovation ecosystem. We will improve the technological innovation system with enterprises as the main body, the market as the guide, and the deep integration of industry, universities and research institutes, and promote the efficient connection and integration of various innovation resources. Deep cooperation and collaboration, reduce the dispersion of resources, inefficient, repetitive investment, and improve the overall innovation efficiency of the industry. We will accelerate the construction of public data platforms and technology collaboration platforms.

Third, value as the core, gradually improve the market-oriented results transformation system. Adhere to demand-oriented and application-oriented technological innovation, accelerate the integration of innovation chains and industrial chains, scientifically evaluate the potential and maturity of technologies, and fine-scale the industrialization and commercialization process. Guided by "one needs multiple materials" and "one material with multiple uses", the expansion and upgrading of fiber material application scenarios are promoted, and a virtuous cycle of demand traction and supply is formed.

The innovative development of the industry needs fertile soil and a good industrial environment. Ji Yu, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said that Jiangsu is a major manufacturing province and the backbone of the strategic promotion of manufacturing power, the textile industry and chemical fiber industry is an important part of the industrial structure of Jiangsu Province, is an important support for the economic and social development of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu has formed a close collaboration supporting the enterprise ecosystem, but also cultivate a number of specialized markets. In the future, the provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology will continue to give full support to the innovation center, hoping that the innovation center will focus on high-end fiber materials and textiles, functional fiber new materials, frontier fiber new materials and other fields to carry out common key technologies and competitive frontier technologies research and development; Aiming at new principles, new processes, and new technologies, reinforcing weaknesses and forging long chains, actively implementing technology transfer and diffusion, forming a collaborative innovation mechanism of "industry-university-research and application integration", promoting industrial upgrading, optimizing industrial structure, and achieving sustainable development.

Gather innovative resources to create innovative highland

In the post-epidemic era, scientific and technological innovation, green development, and intelligent manufacturing are becoming the core driving forces for industrial transformation and upgrading, and industrial safety development is also the top priority, and these key factors have been integrated into the development gene of the innovation center. In the past two years, the Innovation Center has always adhered to the concept of "forward-looking, breaking barriers, green, innovation, and leadership", integrated and gathered the national fiber innovation resources and created an innovation ecosystem, effectively realized the coordinated allocation of resources and complementary advantages, created economic, social and environmental values for the country, and worked hard to create a world innovation highland, and has achieved small success. In the report on the achievements of the construction of the innovation center, Yu Jianyong, president of Donghua University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, made a theme report: New stage, new concept, new pattern - high-quality development of advanced fiber new materials scientific and technological innovation, and made a detailed introduction to the capacity building, innovation and development of the innovation center, and future prospects, among which five highlights were impressive.

Foresight - Build a trusted platform for recycled textiles

China's renewable fiber output of about 10 million tons in 2020, ranking first in the world, the current development of recycled fiber has entered the transformation stage from simple replacement to high-quality development, but the existing certification system of recycled fiber is controlled by people, the control system is not sound (GRS, CU), based on this, It is of great significance and urgent to build a credible platform for recycled textiles with advanced technology and high efficiency. On April 12, 2021, the Innovation Center, together with Ali and Huansi team, organized the launch meeting of the "Trusted Platform for Recycled Textiles" project of the Big Data and fiber intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory.

Through this project, we can rely on big data and cloud platform, and use identity analysis and blockchain technology to build a trusted platform for recycling from bottle pieces to terminal brands; Open up the whole process data interconnection of raw material trading, fibers, yarns, fabrics, clothing processing and terminal brands; Build procurement, logistics, production, quality inspection, environmental protection, sales, warehousing and other data interoperability, cross-certification system. To achieve traceability of renewable resources, promote digital certification, enhance social responsibility, that is, to achieve traceability of renewable sustainable textile products, improve the transparency of the industrial chain; To realize the reliable link of production data, warehousing data, logistics data and transaction data; Give play to the green and low-carbon spillover effect of recycled products and promote the sound development of the industry. In the next few years, the platform will realize the transition from 1.0 to 3.0, further expand the value of the platform, create benefits, participate in the formulation of industry rules, and make the whole industry chain participate in the platform.

Break the barrier - Overcome fiber interface processing technology

As a major producer of chemical fiber, China's chemical fiber output accounts for more than 70% of the world's total. Fiber interface treatment agents (including FDY/POY oil and DTY oil, etc.) play a decisive role in the production of chemical fiber, which can give the fiber smoothness and adhesion, and significantly reduce electrostatic generation or electrostatic density, protect the fiber from damage, reduce the hair and break rate, to ensure that spinning and post-processing and other processes smoothly. According to statistics, the current annual consumption of chemical fiber oil agent in China exceeds 500,000 tons, and the output value exceeds 10 billion yuan. However, in the formation of large-scale chemical fiber enterprises in China, more than 90% of the chemical fiber oil agents used rely on imports, and the independent control of fiber oil agents has become an important guarantee for the safe development of the industry.

Based on this, the innovation center actively explores the industry collaborative innovation model, builds an industry alliance of fiber interface treatment agents, and is committed to the innovative manufacturing of high-end fiber and special fiber interface treatment agents, focusing on solving the "bottleneck" problem of imported interface treatment agents used in functional FDY, POY, carbon fiber, polylactic acid, aramide, polyphenylene sulfide and other fibers on the domestic chemical fiber industry. In the next few years, we must first make up for the shortcomings, realize the localization of FDY and POY oil agents, and establish the localization direction of chemical fiber oil agents; Secondly, it is necessary to break through the performance of domestic oil agents, comprehensively catch up with imported products, form a series of the whole industry chain, and establish an oil evaluation system; Then it is to formulate industry product standards to establish brands and obtain the right to speak in the field of chemical fiber oil agents. In order to build an independent innovative oil preparation system, promote the safety and controllability of the oil supply of the whole industry and the full coverage of the variety of fiber, and open up a new pattern of industry development.

Green - breakthrough antimony-free, flame retardant polyester fiber preparation technology

Polyester fiber is the largest variety of chemical fiber, the output accounts for about 85% of the total chemical fiber. In the polyester industry, in the process of fiber production, weaving, printing and dyeing, the requirement of limiting or reducing antimony catalysts has become a common technical problem in the industry. It is urgent to develop and promote the use of new environmental protection catalyst systems to solve the technical bottleneck of green and sustainable development of the industry. At the same time, polyester fiber is a combustible material, and its application fields cover many fields such as clothing, home textiles, industrial use, so the development and application of the key technology of flame retardant fiber is related to the national economy and people's livelihood.
