Communication configuration (for situations with PLC communication module)
Allen Bradley Remote I/O interface configuration: Use a Belden 9463 dual axis cable (blue hose) for connection, with the blue wire of the cable connected to pin 1 (or 4) of the PLC, the shielded wire connected to pin 2 (or 5), and the Clear wire connected to pin 3 (or 6). To simulate an I/O rack, set jumper JB2 to "Enable" and switch SW1 to a specific position (3 and 5 open, 1, 2, 4, and 6 closed). In the Softscreen system, configure ports by selecting the Application Load Configuration EdPorts Port 2 path and setting parameters such as AB Remote I/O network type, baud rate, PLC type, etc.
Modicon Modbus Plus interface configuration: Connect to the Modbus Plus network through the SA85 port using a network cable. Set the SA85 address, which must be unique in the network. Its value is the binary value set by switches 1-6 plus 1, and switches 7 and 8 are not used. At the same time, set the memory base address within the range of C0000- EF800 hexadecimal. For 2000 series engines, this address must be set to D0000. In addition, it is necessary to set the hardware interrupt jumper to polling mode to ensure normal communication.
Allen Bradley Data Highway Plus interface configuration: also uses Belden 9463 dual axis cable connection, with wiring similar to Allen Bradley Remote I/O. Set jumper JB2 to the enabled state and use specific address expressions (such as [O: addr/bit], [T file: element. acc/bit], etc.) for data read and write operations based on different file types. When configuring, it is also necessary to set parameters such as baud rate, mode (foreground mode or background mode), response timeout value, and station number to ensure stable communication with the PLC.
Software setup and testing
Set parameters: Use corresponding software tools (such as Softscreen Development System software) to set parameters for the extension module. These parameters include basic parameters such as the number, type, and address of input/output (I/O) points, as well as communication parameters such as baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity bits, etc., if applicable. Parameter settings should be based on actual application requirements to ensure that the module can function properly.
