DEIF AGC 146 Automatic Genset Controller

The DEIF AGC 146 is a compact automatic genset controller designed for single generator applications in standby, prime power, and continuous operation. This versatile controller integrates engine management, generator protection, and power measurement functions into a single unit, providing a complete control solution for diesel and gas generator sets. The AGC 146 is part of the DEIF AGC family, known for reliability and ease of use in power generation applications.

Engine Control Functions

The AGC 146 provides complete engine control for diesel and gas generator sets. Automatic start and stop sequences are configurable to match engine manufacturer requirements, including pre-start checks, starter motor engagement, and post-start stabilization. The controller monitors engine parameters such as coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and battery voltage, with configurable alarm and shutdown limits. Speed control is supported through analog or CAN bus interfaces to electronic governors.

Generator Protection

Comprehensive generator protection ensures safe operation and equipment protection:

  • Overcurrent and short-circuit protection (ANSI 50/51)

  • Reverse power protection (ANSI 32)

  • Overvoltage and undervoltage protection (ANSI 59/27)

  • Overfrequency and underfrequency protection (ANSI 81 O/U)

  • Voltage unbalance protection

  • Loss of excitation detection

  • Earth fault protection

All protection functions feature adjustable setpoints and time delays, enabling coordination with other protection devices in the electrical system.

Power Measurement and Monitoring

The AGC 146 continuously measures electrical parameters for system monitoring and performance analysis:

  • Three-phase voltage and current measurements

  • Frequency measurement

  • Active power (kW), reactive power (kvar), and apparent power (kVA)

  • Power factor

  • Energy measurement (kWh, kvarh)

  • Harmonic distortion analysis

All measured values are displayed on the integral LCD and available for remote monitoring via communication interfaces.

Communication Capabilities

The AGC 146 supports Modbus RTU communication over RS-485 as standard, enabling integration with supervisory control systems, building management systems, and remote monitoring platforms. Optional Ethernet modules provide support for Modbus TCP and web server functionality, allowing remote access via standard web browsers. The communication interface provides access to all measured values, status information, and alarm conditions.

User Interface

The AGC 146 features a graphical LCD display with backlight, providing clear visibility of generator parameters, engine status, and alarm conditions. Navigation buttons allow operators to scroll through measurement screens, view event logs, and perform manual control operations. Status LEDs provide immediate visual indication of generator running status, alarm conditions, and communication activity. The intuitive interface reduces operator training requirements.
