The Phoenix Contact 2703994, also known as the IL PN BK DI8 DO4 2TX-PAC, is a PROFINET bus coupler with integrated I/O. This device serves as the interface between a PROFINET network and the Phoenix Contact Inline I/O system. The bus coupler with integrated I/Os is intended for use within a PROFINET network and represents the link to the Inline I/O system. With eight digital inputs and four digital outputs onboard, this coupler provides built-in I/O capability while acting as the head station for additional Inline expansion modules.

PROFINET Network Integration

The bus coupler connects to PROFINET networks via two RJ45 Ethernet ports. It is compatible with PROFINET IRT (Isochronous Real-Time) starting from firmware version 4.00 or later, enabling deterministic communication for time-critical applications. The coupler conforms to PROFINET specification V2.3 and has received PROFINET approval (ID Z10506). It appears as a PROFINET IO device to the controller, with integrated I/O represented as standard PROFINET process data. Electrical isolation is provided between the Ethernet interface and internal logic to enhance noise immunity.
