The HCIX07-TW-ND-N belongs to Honeywell's HCIX series of smart positioners, which are widely used in the process industries for precise control of pneumatic actuators. The positioner receives a command signal (4-20 mA or digital) and adjusts the air pressure to the actuator to achieve the desired valve position. It features a non-contact position sensor, microprocessor-based control, and a rugged enclosure suitable for harsh environments. The "TW-ND-N" suffix indicates specific options: TW (travel switch), ND (non-display), N (without local interface).
Input Signal: 4-20 mA analog with HART protocol (or optional Profibus PA, Foundation Fieldbus).
Position Sensing: Hall-effect non-contact sensor, resolution
<0.1%.< li="">Accuracy: ±0.5% of span (hysteresis, linearity, repeatability combined).
Air Capacity: > 10 Nm³/h at 6 bar supply.
Air Consumption: < 0.5 Nm³/h at steady state.
Diagnostics: Valve signature, step response, friction monitoring, travel deviation alarm, partial stroke test.
Travel Switches: 2 built-in mechanical switches for end-position indication (optional).
Housing: Aluminum or stainless steel, IP66/NEMA 4X.
Supply Pressure: 1.4 to 7 bar (20 to 100 psi).
Output Pressure Range: 0 to 100% of supply.
Operating Temperature: -40°C to +85°C (depending on options).
Travel Range: Linear: 10-150 mm; Rotary: 30-100°.
Materials: Case: low-copper aluminum or 316L stainless steel.
Electrical Connection: 1/2" NPT or M20 cable glands.
Pneumatic Connection: 1/4" NPT.

The positioner uses a microcontroller to compare the commanded position (from the input signal) with the actual position (from the sensor). It drives an I/P converter and a pneumatic relay to adjust actuator pressure. Advanced control algorithms compensate for friction and hysteresis. The device continuously monitors valve health: it can detect seat wear, packing friction changes, and supply pressure variations. Diagnostic data can be accessed via HART or fieldbus for predictive maintenance.
Control valves in oil and gas, refining, chemical, power, and pulp & paper industries.
Steam conditioning valves.
High-pressure letdown valves.
Cryogenic and high-temperature applications (with appropriate options).
The positioner mounts directly on the actuator (linear or rotary) using standard mounting kits (IEC 60534-6 or VDI/VDE 3845). The non-contact sensor eliminates mechanical linkage wear. Configuration can be done locally (if display is present) or remotely using Honeywell's ValVue software or any HART communicator. Auto-calibration routine automatically sets zero, span, and stroking speed.
ATEX, IECEx, FM, CSA for explosive atmospheres (intrinsic safety, flameproof).
SIL 2/3 capable per IEC 61508.
Marine approvals (ABS, DNV) available.
