The PCS8010 supports a comprehensive set of communication protocols including Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profibus DP (via optional module), CANopen, and Ethernet/IP. This ensures seamless integration with a wide variety of PLCs, drives, and sensors. The built-in Ethernet port enables remote access, data logging, and firmware updates over the network. The panel includes a web server that allows users to view real-time screen images and diagnostic information using a standard browser.
Configuration and application development are performed using Lauer Configurator Pro, a powerful software environment that provides a rich library of graphical objects, animated elements, trend graphs, and alarm management tools. The software supports multi-language text switching, password-protected user levels (up to 10 levels), and recipe handling. The panel can store up to 5,000 alarm events and 20,000 data log entries in its internal memory or external microSD card. Data can be exported in CSV format via USB or FTP.
Additional features include a screen saver with dimming function to extend backlight life, adjustable touch sensitivity, and a watchdog timer that automatically resets the system in case of software hang-up, ensuring high availability.
For optimal performance, install the panel in a clean, dry control cabinet with adequate ventilation. The cutout must be accurately sized to ensure proper sealing; use the supplied gasket to maintain IP65 protection. Mount the panel using the provided clips, tightening them evenly to avoid distortion. Connect the 24 V DC power supply using a shielded cable with a minimum cross-section of 1.5 mm²; the ground terminal must be connected to the main protective earth.
All communication cables should be shielded and routed separately from power lines to minimize electromagnetic interference. The RS485 network requires termination resistors (120 Ω) at both ends if multiple devices are connected. The USB ports can be used for external memory, keyboard, or mouse. For Ethernet, use a CAT5e or higher cable with a maximum length of 100 meters. Ensure the panel is not exposed to direct sunlight, excessive vibration, or corrosive gases.
The PCS8010 is designed for continuous operation in industrial settings with ambient temperatures between 0 and 50 °C. It can withstand sinusoidal vibration up to 0.5 g (10–150 Hz) and mechanical shock up to 10 g (11 ms) according to IEC 60068-2-6 and -27. The LED backlight has a typical half-life of 50,000 hours at 25 °C; operation at higher temperatures may reduce lifespan. The unit includes internal temperature monitoring; if the temperature exceeds safe limits, a warning message is displayed and the backlight brightness is automatically reduced.
For outdoor or high-ambient-light applications, an optional sunlight-readable version with higher brightness (500 cd/m²) and anti-reflective coating is available. The panel is also offered with a wide-temperature option (-20 °C to +60 °C) for extreme environments.
Typical applications include machine tool control, packaging lines, printing machinery, textile equipment, conveyor systems, and process monitoring. The panel is also used in building automation, water treatment plants, and energy management systems. Its versatile communication and robust design make it suitable for both new installations and retrofitting legacy machines.
The Lauer PCS8010 carries CE marking, conforming to the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU. It is UL listed (UL 61010-1) and cUL certified for the Canadian market. The unit meets FCC Part 15 Class A emissions standards and is RoHS compliant. Additionally, it has passed environmental tests per IEC 60068 for temperature, humidity, and vibration.
This operator panel is available in several variants: with or without touchscreen, with different memory sizes (up to 1 GB RAM), and with optional fieldbus modules (Profibus DP, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, or CANopen). Custom configuration with pre-loaded application software or specific language sets can be ordered. For projects requiring higher processing power, an upgraded version with a dual-core processor is also offered.
