The ABB SCC-C Sample Gas Cooler (Order Code: 23070-0-10232110) is a critical component in modern gas analysis systems, engineered to reduce the dew point of humid sample gases and prevent condensation from reaching sensitive analyzers. By maintaining a stable, low gas outlet dew point, the SCC-C minimizes water vapor cross-sensitivity and volumetric errors, ensuring accurate and repeatable measurement results.


Designed for Safety and Flexibility

Available in standard, ATEX Zone 2, and CSA Class I, Division 2 certified versions, the SCC-C is suitable for both non-hazardous and potentially explosive atmospheres. The explosion-protected variants comply with EN/IEC 60079 series standards, with maximum sample gas inlet temperatures ranging from 130 °C (ATEX) to 135°C (CSA) , depending on certification.

The unit supports a wide range of applications, including those involving flammable sample gases, thanks to its stainless steel heat exchanger option. Other heat exchanger materials include glass (GL) and PVDF, allowing compatibility with various gas compositions.

High-Performance Cooling and Condensate Management

The SCC-C delivers a cooling capacity of 40 W at ambient temperatures between 10 and 45 °C, with a factory-set sample gas outlet temperature of +3°C. The dew point stability is exceptional at ±0.3°C per 10°C temperature change and ±0.3°C per 10 L/h flow variation.

The integrated MC 1000 temperature controller features a 3-digit LED display, PIN protection, and adjustable alarm limits. The device also supports 1 or 2 hose pumps for condensate discharge (flow rate ~300 mL/h) and optional reagent dosing (~15 mL/h), ideal for wet-chemical gas conditioning tasks.

Robust Design for Industrial Use

The SCC-C is designed for wall or 19″ rack mounting, with a protection rating of IP20 (suitable for indoor installation). It operates at altitudes up to 2000 m and requires an ambient temperature range of 5 to 45 °C with non-condensing humidity (≤80%).

Electrical requirements include 120 V AC or 230/240 V AC (±10%) ,  with a maximum power consumption of 200 VA. The unit includes a potential-free status relay (changeover contact) for remote monitoring of temperature alarms.

Easy Maintenance and Serviceability

Routine maintenance includes cleaning the condenser fins, replacing peristaltic pump hoses (every 5 months), and checking gas path leak tightness (test pressure ~500 hPa). The SCC-C also features compressor transport protection screws to prevent oil migration during shipping — a critical detail for long-term reliability.
