Stabilize fuel vehicle consumption

China Automobile Association data show that in the first seven months of this year, China's automobile production and sales were 15.65 million and 15.626 million, respectively, up 7.4% and 7.9% year-on-year. Although the sales volume of the domestic automobile market in the first 7 months has increased significantly, the domestic passenger car market has not fully recovered after excluding the increase in exports and commercial vehicles, and the recovery pressure of the domestic passenger car market is still large.

"The traditional fuel vehicle market, especially the passenger car market, is relatively sluggish this year, which has a certain drag on the development of the entire industry." Data show that from 2017 to 2022, China's fuel vehicle sales fell from 28.102 million to 19.977 million, with a sales reduction of 8.125 million; Sales of new energy vehicles increased from 777,000 to 6.887 million, and sales increased by 6.11 million, and the substitution effect of new energy vehicles was very obvious.

"Fuel vehicles are the basic plate, are livelihood models, and are still the biggest part of the auto market." Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the National Passenger Car Market Information Association, believes that it is necessary to grasp the consumption structure and rhythm, and calls for stable fuel vehicle consumption from the policy.

In response to this problem, the "Plan" clearly proposes to stabilize fuel vehicle consumption. Specifically, all localities are not allowed to add new car purchase restrictions, and a certain number of car purchase indicators are encouraged to increase on the basis of car purchase indicators in 2022 to further promote car consumption.
