Renewable energy construction to speed up green development to add impetus

In the southeast sea, the construction of the second phase of Liuao Offshore Wind Farm in Zhangpu, Fujian, with a site area of about 22.9 square kilometers, began, and the first batch of 16 MW and above large capacity offshore wind turbines was used.

By the end of 2022, China's renewable energy installed capacity exceeded 1.2 billion kilowatts, historically surpassing the national coal power installed capacity. From January to April this year, the country's new installed capacity of wind power photovoltaic power generation was 62.51 million kilowatts, accounting for 74% of the country's new installed power generation capacity. At present, all regions and departments are coordinating secure energy supply and green and low-carbon development, and actively promoting renewable energy to enter a new stage of high-quality development.

 Renewable energy is natural green energy. In 2022, China's renewable energy installed capacity steadily expanded, the new installed capacity of 152 million kilowatts, accounting for 76.2% of the country's new power generation capacity, has become the main body of new power installed capacity; The level of utilization has steadily increased, generating 2.7 trillion KWH of electricity, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 2.26 billion tons.

Energy enterprises seize the opportunity of renewable energy development, and strengthen the planning of project construction: this year, the National Energy Group plans to complete and put into operation offshore wind power projects such as Bozhong in Shandong Province, Sheyang in Jiangsu Province, Xiangshan in Zhejiang Province, and a number of photovoltaic base projects such as Ningdong in Ningxia Province and Ganquanbao in Xinjiang Province. The layout of development has been continuously improved, and new models and business forms have emerged

In Xinjiang, the SINOPEC Kuqa Green Hydrogen demonstration project has entered the sprint stage of production, and the annual output of green hydrogen can reach 20,000 tons using the advantages of local abundant solar energy resources. New models and new forms of business, such as photovoltaic + agriculture, photovoltaic desertification control, and hydrogen production from renewable energy sources, have formed a new situation of multi-energy complementarities, local conditions, and diversified integrated development.

The construction of power transmission channels has been accelerated, and the level of consumption has been effectively improved

Most of our country's scenic resources are distributed in the "three north" area, while the electricity load is mainly concentrated in the central and eastern and southern regions, and the cross-provincial transmission pressure is large; Coupled with the intermittent volatility of wind power and photovoltaic power generation, large-scale and high proportion access in the future will bring challenges to the smooth operation of the power system. Therefore, renewable energy must be developed on a large scale, but also a high level of consumption.

General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that it is necessary to increase efforts to plan and build a new energy supply and consumption system based on large solar power bases, supported by clean, efficient and advanced energy-saving coal power around them, and supported by stable, safe and reliable UHV transmission and transformation lines.

Construction of power transmission channels to help the "development" of new energy.

Promote the construction of energy storage and promote the "good use" of new energy.

Nanning, Guangxi, the "14th Five-Year Plan" period in South China's first pumped storage power station to step up construction. "At present, the excavation of the second floor of the underground plant has been completed. It is expected that the excavation and support of the plant will be completed by the end of this year, and the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment will begin." In 2022, the construction of pumped storage capacity in China will accelerate significantly. The country newly approved 48 pumped storage projects, installed capacity of 68.9 million kilowatts, more than the "13th Five-Year" period of all approved scale, the year of new production of 8.8 million kilowatts, a record high. This year, the State Grid plans to start construction of five more pumped storage power stations and put four into operation. China Southern Power Grid will continue to accelerate the construction of four pumped storage power stations in Nanning, Meizhou Phase II, Zhaoqing Langjiang and Huizhou Zhongdong.

The growth of new energy storage installations such as lithium-ion battery energy storage, compressed air energy storage, and liquid flow battery energy storage continues to accelerate. By the end of 2022, the installed capacity of new energy storage projects in China had reached 8.7 million kilowatts, an increase of more than 110% over the end of 2021. The relevant person in charge of the National Energy Administration introduced that at present and in the next period, it will speed up the peaking capacity construction of pumped storage, peak gas power, new energy storage and other power systems, and vigorously improve the flexibility of residential and industrial and commercial power load, providing strong support for the development of wind power and photovoltaic.
