The global mold industry is more competitive

Although China's plastic mold industry started late, but since entering the 21st century, through the continuous improvement of relevant technology and management, has had rapid development, and now has a considerable scale. For a long time, the mold is known as the "mother of industry", the world's major mold production countries have accelerated the pace of overseas expansion, the competition is more fierce.

1, China's mold production continues to increase

Plastic mold is a tool for plastic processing industry and plastic molding machine to give plastic products a complete configuration and accurate size. In the process of production and manufacturing, especially in the process of industrial production of mechanical parts, various functional parts are moulded. Now more and more production enterprises use plastic molds to produce and process parts, which also reduces production costs for enterprises. Therefore, plastic molds are more and more widely used in machinery, automobiles, home appliances, electronics and other fields. In 2019, China's mold production reached 27.337 million sets, an increase of 49%.

2. Injection molds occupy 45% market share in the mold industry

From the mold industry as a whole, plastic molds and stamping molds are the main segments of the mold market, accounting for 45% and 37% of the market share, respectively, accounting for a total of more than 80%.

3, China's mold industry cluster is basically formed

Since the development of the early 21st century, China's mold industry cluster has been basically formed. From the overall layout of the domestic mold industry, the development trend of the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Bohai Rim region is good. Among the 213 key backbone mold enterprises in China reviewed and announced by China Mold Association in August 2018, the mold industry in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Suzhou, Anhui and other provinces and cities leads the country, and cities such as Shenzhen, Ningbo, Suzhou, Taizhou, and Qingdao have become mold enterprises and talent gathering places. These mold backbone enterprises set an example in brand building, technological innovation, market share, product characteristics and enterprise planning, and guide the diversified development of mold enterprises around the country.

4, domestic plastic molds continue to achieve import substitution

From the import and export point of view, in the mold products, plastic molds are the largest segment products in China's import volume, and also the largest segment products in China's export volume. Since 2014, China's plastic mold imports have shown a downward trend as a whole, and in 2019 it was 872 million US dollars; At the same time, exports as a whole showed an upward trend, and in 2019, China's plastic mold exports reached 3.902 billion US dollars, accounting for 62.47% of mold exports. It can be seen that domestic high-quality plastic molds have gradually broken through foreign monopoly and achieved import substitution.

5, the future of China's plastic mold technology development trend analysis

Since the development of China's plastic mold industry, there has been rapid progress, plastic mold design and manufacturing technology, CAD and other related technologies in our country has been quite in-depth research. However, in the case of different process conditions used by plastic mold manufacturers, the quality of domestic molds is uneven, and modern enterprises need to increase the research of plastic molds.

With the continuous development of modern science and technology, nowadays CAD, CAM, CAE and other technologies have been applied in the design and manufacturing of modern plastic molds, and even have been widely used, and have made great contributions to the development of modern plastic molds.

In addition, electronic information engineering, gas-assisted injection molding, hot runner and other technologies will be more and more widely used in plastic mold production. With the continuous improvement of social production requirements and the processing level of enterprises, the production mode and enterprise concept of plastic mold manufacturing are changing, the product level is gradually improved, the production cycle is getting shorter and shorter, the supporting processing capacity is further improved, and the design and manufacturing of plastic molds will be more intelligent and green.
