Located in the Delingha thermal Park, the once barren Gobi Desert is now a quiet "blue ocean" in the refraction of countless heliostat mirrors. So, how do these "mirrors" generate electricity?

In simple terms, photothermal power generation is to reflect sunlight to the heat absorber on the tower through the heliostat that tracks the trajectory of the sun on multiple sides, and then heat exchange through the heat exchange system after the heating medium (molten salt), and then generate steam to generate electricity using the turbine generator set. In fact, the power generation system is composed of heliostat condenser heat collection system, heat storage system, heat exchange system, turbine power generation system and auxiliary system.

To use the sun's rays, we must first choose a place with good sunshine conditions. Delingha annual sunshine in more than 3500 hours, the annual total solar radiation reached 6618.3-7356.9 megajoules per square meter, new energy project construction available land nearly 42,000 square kilometers... At the moment when the energy structure is accelerating the transformation to clean energy, with its unique natural conditions and many advantages, it has attracted many well-known domestic new energy enterprises to set up camp here and expand the territory. As one of the earliest enterprises engaged in tower solar thermal power generation in China, Qinghai Central Control has a keen market sense and rapid market response ability, combined with its own resource advantages, and actively grasp the green development opportunities, in 2011, Qinghai Central Control officially settled in Delingha City, the project adopts tower solar thermal power generation technology route, with a total installed capacity of 60MW.

"Because the power station is configured with a large-scale molten salt heat storage system, it can achieve continuous, stable and dispatachable high-quality power output, successfully complementary with photovoltaic and wind power, effectively solve the problem of unbalanced power output during the peak and low periods of electricity consumption, improve the stability of the power grid, and enhance the capacity of the power grid to absorb new energy." Therefore, solar thermal power generation can solve 'three key problems in the development of modern power systems: system inertia, adjustment capacity and support capacity, so as to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power system'." The first large-scale commercial solar thermal power station in China - Qinghai Central Control Delingha Phase I 10MW solar thermal power station, was connected to the grid on July 5, 2013; As the world's first tower molten salt energy storage solar thermal power station to fully reach the annual design power generation -- Qinghai Zhongkong Delingha Phase II 50MW solar thermal power station was connected to the grid on December 30, 2018, the power station uses the core technology of tower molten salt solar thermal power generation independently developed by Zhejiang Kesheng Technology Co., LTD., and fully owns intellectual property rights...

After years of transformation and development, Qinghai Central Control has made breakthroughs in high-quality development again and again. However, looking back on this road of development and construction, it is not smooth sailing, and there are countless problems in front of the company that need to be solved.

In the past, many of the equipment was imported, which was expensive, not to mention the maintenance cost was huge. Instead of being subject to others, it is more necessary to speed up the breaking of technical "barriers" and walk out of a road of high-quality localization through "self-reliance".

In recent years, in order to strive to master the key technologies of solar energy with independent intellectual property rights, and promote the establishment of the technical standard system of solar thermal power generation, Qinghai Central Control has carried out a lot of scientific research on the development of standards in the field of solar thermal power generation, solar thermal storage and energy storage technology, and engineering application of domestic equipment.

One by one, technological innovation and change have broken through the "stuck neck" problem. Today, the entire power station has not only developed solar thermal power generation technology with independent intellectual property rights, to achieve 95% of the localization rate, at the same time, concentrating accuracy, solar thermal conversion efficiency and other technical indicators have reached the international first-class level, improve the application level of solar energy in the country, reduce the cost of solar thermal construction and power generation costs, and consolidate the foundation of high-quality development of enterprises.
