Deployment and Troubleshooting of ADLINK MXE-5500 Series Industrial Control Computer

Serial Ports 1-4: Configure each serial port as RS-232/422/485.

LAN # 1~4: Independently enable/disable four-way network cards, and can respectively enable PXE OpROM (network boot).

Serial Port Console redirection: Enable serial port redirection for remote debugging (requires configuration of COM port and baud rate).

Advanced Power Management:

State After G3: Set the behavior after power restoration - Power Off, Power On, Last State. It is recommended to set the unmanned scenario to Power On.

RTC Wake system from S5: Set timed startup (RTC alarm clock wake-up).

Wake On Ring: Enable ringing wake-up (requires a modem connection).

USB Configuration:

Legacy USB Support: Set to Enabled to ensure that the USB keyboard and mouse are available under DOS/BIOS.

XHCI Hand off: It is recommended to enable and solve the handover issue between the OS and XHCI controller.

Port 60/64 Simulation: Enabled to support traditional keyboard controller simulation.

SATA Configuration:

SATA Mode Selection: AHCI mode is recommended, supporting NCQ and hot swapping.

M. 2 Card: Enable/disable M.2 2280 SATA storage.

CFast Card: Enable/disable CFast slot.

CSM Configuration:

CSM Support: If you need to boot from a Legacy MBR disk, set it to Enabled; A pure UEFI environment can be set to Disabled.

Boot option filter: controls the priority of UEFI/Legacy ROM.

AMT Configuration: Supports Intel Active Management Technology, enabling remote management (requires additional firmware).

TPM 1.2 Configuration: Enable Trusted Platform Module to achieve hardware level secure encryption.

5.2 Security Menu

Administrator Password: Set BIOS management password (authentication required to enter Setup).

User Password: Set the startup password (verification required after POST).

RTC Lock and BIOS Lock: Lock the RTC and BIOS regions to enhance security.

5.3 Boot Menu

Setup Prompt Timeout: Set the number of seconds to wait for the DEL hotkey to timeout.

Quiet Boot: Enable displaying OEM logo and disable displaying POST self-test information.

Fast Boot: Enable skipping partial POST detection to accelerate startup (but may affect peripheral initialization).

Boot Option priorities and Hard Drive BBS priorities: Fine tune the order of boot devices.

5.4 Exit Menu (Save&Exit)

Restore Defaults: Restore to factory optimal settings (non performance limit, stability priority), suitable for scenarios where configuration errors prevent startup.

Save as User Default/Restore User Default: Save/restore user-defined settings.

Launch EFI Shell: Launch EFI Shell (Shell. efi) from a file system device for advanced firmware debugging.


Chapter 6: Quick Troubleshooting Table for Common Malfunctions

Troubleshooting steps for possible causes of fault phenomena

After powering on, the power indicator light does not light up. If the DC input polarity is reversed or the voltage exceeds the limit (9-32V), check the V+and V - polarities; Measure input voltage; Check the adapter

Press the power button without any response. If the power button is damaged or the internal cable is disconnected, check the power button header (CN27) cable; Attempt to short-circuit PWRBTN to GND

Automatically restart the system after startup. Check the WDT setting in SEMA for watchdog timeout or unstable power supply; Check BIOS Power Up Watchdog; Measure input voltage

No display output. Display interface selection error or resolution exceeding limit. Attempt DP and DVI-I; Restore BIOS default settings; Confirm the configuration of the three displays

Serial communication failed (COM1~4). The serial mode in BIOS does not match the device. Enter Onboard Devices Configuration and confirm the RS-232/422/485 settings

DI/O cannot control the installation of SEMA/WDT/DI/O drivers without installing drivers or without calling GPIO-INnit; Call GPIOInitialize () in the code first

DI/O isolation failure or damage external power supply exceeding 35V or polarity reversal check VDD power supply (5-35V), check DI input voltage (≤ 24V)

Hard disk/Fastest does not recognize SATA mode or port is disabled. Check BIOS SATA Mode (AHCI) and confirm that SATA Port 1-2 and CFast Card are set to enabled

3G/4G module has no signal. SIM card is not inserted properly, antenna is not connected, or module is not recognized. Check the contact of the USIM card slot; Confirm antenna connection; Check if the mini PCIe slot is enabled

Ensure a top 5cm clearance when the system temperature is too high, the heat dissipation distance is insufficient, or the ambient temperature exceeds the limit; Confirm that the operating temperature does not exceed the specifications (standard 0~50 ° C, wide temperature -20~60/70 ° C)

BIOS settings error, unable to start due to improper modification of advanced options, clearing CMOS (short circuiting Pin2-Pin3 of JP1/JP2); Press DEL to restore Restore Default when starting up
