This is not just a new product, it is the culmination of Konigsberg's 50 year experience in ship automation.

The birth of K-Chief aims to solve the contradiction between the increasingly complex control requirements and operational simplicity of modern ships. It inherits the famous features of simplicity, ease of use, and durability of the Konigsberg merchant ship product line, while integrating the ultimate flexibility required by the marine product line. This unique dual advantage enables it to perfectly adapt to all kinds of stringent requirements from conventional merchant ships to high-class and sophisticated offshore factory ship, providing a safe, reliable and user-friendly solution for shipyards, shipowners and professional users around the world.


Chapter 2 Core Design Concept: Perfect Integration of Modularity and Universal Technology

2.1 Advantages of Modular Design

The core soul of the K-Chief system lies in its highly modular design philosophy. This design endows the system with unparalleled flexibility, enabling it to cover the full spectrum of requirements from the most basic alarm monitoring system (AMS) to highly integrated complex control and monitoring systems (CAMS). Modularity means that customers do not need to pay for unnecessary features, while also leaving ample room for future system upgrades. Whether it's simple alarm configurations with low complexity or highly integrated control covering the entire ship, K-Chief can accurately match the personalized needs of ship owners through flexible combinations of standard modules.

2.2 General Technology Platform of K-Line Family

K-Chief does not exist in isolation, it is an important member of the "K-Line" product family of Konigsberg. By adopting a universal technology platform, K-Chief has achieved seamless integration with systems such as K-Safe, K-Power, K-Pos, K-Thrust, K-Bridge, and K-Gauge.

Chapter 3 System Architecture: Balancing Distributed Intelligence and Centralized Control

3.1 Advanced Topology Structure

The system architecture design of K-Chief embodies the modern industrial automation concept of "decentralized control and centralized management". The system is built on top of the operation station and I/O modules, tightly interconnected through local data networks. The brilliance of this architecture design lies in its redundancy and reliability.

The system adopts a decentralized distributed architecture, with redundant controllers configured for each critical segment. This means that even if a local controller fails, the system can seamlessly take over through a backup controller, ensuring that a single point of failure does not cause system paralysis, thereby greatly improving system availability.

During the decades long service life of ships, retrofitting and expansion are the norm. The flexible architecture of K-Chief allows users to easily add more I/O modules to the network in the later stages to control newly added process areas or expand system functionality. In addition, the system has strong compatibility and can directly connect supplier equipment such as valve control systems, fire alarm systems, and liquid level measurement systems on the process network. This open interface feature allows K-Chief to easily integrate into the existing ship ecosystem.

Chapter 4 Functional Subsystem: The Neural Center for Intelligent Control of the Whole Ship

K-Chief system covers almost all key functions on the ship, and its powerful functionality is reflected through a series of subsystems, which can meet the needs of oil tankers, LNG/LPG ships, bulk carriers, container ships, cruise ships, offshore factory ship, drilling platforms and other ship types.

4.1 Core Monitoring and Alarm System

As a fundamental feature, K-Chief provides a powerful alarm and monitoring system. It has strong scalability and can handle monitoring tasks ranging from 10 to up to 50000 I/O points. The operation station provides an intuitive process view, clearly displaying the operating status of the host and auxiliary equipment. All changes in alarms and measurement points will be automatically recorded and time stamped, providing reliable basis for accident analysis and daily maintenance.

4.2 Power and Energy Management System

K-Chief and Konigsberg's K-Power solution are closely integrated to achieve precise control of both AC and DC power grids. The system can directly access the generator protection device, driver, and inverter to ensure smooth operation and optimal control of the ship's power station. This not only optimizes energy efficiency, but also effectively prevents major accidents such as power outages throughout the ship.

4.3 Professional Fluid and Cargo Management

K-Chief integrates ballast control system, cargo control system, gas management system, and fuel control system for liquid cargo ships and special vessels. These modular subsystems can not only operate independently, but also be linked with the overall ship energy efficiency management to achieve automation and intelligence of complex operations.

4.4 Safety critical K-Safe integration

In the field of fire safety and emergency shutdown, K-Chief integrates the K-Safe system. This includes fire monitoring and suppression systems as well as emergency shutdown systems (ESD). This integration ensures that the system can respond as quickly as possible in emergency situations, protecting the safety of personnel and the integrity of assets.

The system also includes control of auxiliary control systems, ship service systems, and HVAC systems. Chapter 5 Operating Experience: Human centered Human Computer Interaction Design

5.1 Intelligent operation station

The operation station is the window for crew members to interact with the system. The operation station design of K-Chief fully considers user experience. Through the status page and interactive process charts, operators can intuitively monitor the status of the entire ship. The system supports direct control of different process devices on any operating station, achieving true "one screen, one palm, global" functionality.

When changing alarm limits or parameters, the system will automatically synchronize and update data from all other sites to ensure information consistency. All operational actions (such as pump start stop and parameter modification) will be automatically recorded and archived by the system, achieving traceability of operations.

5.2 Data Storage and Trend Analysis

Data is the cornerstone of intelligent shipping. K-Chief has built-in powerful data management functions, and all data can be stored for 28 days in the operation station. Users can view event history and trend views at any time. For deeper data mining needs, the system can access the information management system through the management network, providing long-term historical data storage, data export, and powerful report generation tools. Crew members can even monitor the operation status of equipment through network monitoring in the cabin, greatly improving management convenience.


Chapter 6: Remote Connection and Information Management: Embracing the Digital Future

With the deepening of digital transformation, remote monitoring and onshore support have become new industry standards. K-Chief's information management system is not only a data analysis tool, but also a bridge connecting the shore and sea.

Through a dedicated global secure network, K-Chief allows for the establishment of secure connections with onshore organizations for information exchange and remote support. This means that experts from Kangshibo can access ship systems in real-time onshore for fault diagnosis and technical guidance, completely changing the traditional mode of requiring ship maintenance and significantly improving ship operation efficiency and technical support response speed.
