2. Check the branch topology
3. Confirm the position of the receiver unit switch
ERR is constantly on
UA/UB alternate flashing mode switching function failure (only G9SX-GS) 1. Incorrect setting of switching function switch (Auto/Manual)
2. Mode selection input (M1, M2) wiring error or switching time exceeding 450ms 1. Confirm that the switch position is consistent with the actual requirements
2. Check the M1/M2 wiring to ensure quick switching action
All lights (except PWR) are flashing. The power supply voltage is abnormal and exceeds the rated range (-15% to+10%). Use a multimeter to measure the A1/A2 terminal voltage (which should be 24VDC ± 10%)
Important reminder: After troubleshooting and repairing the G9SX, it must be powered on again (power off and then back on) in order to clear the locked state and restore normal operation.

System timing response analysis and safety distance calculation
For systems involving logic and gate series connection, response time will accumulate step by step, which directly affects the calculation of safety distance. According to the manual data:
Maximum response time (ON → OFF, excluding expansion units) and maximum operation time (OFF → ON, excluding expansion units) of the serial level
Level 1 (Basic/Advanced Unit) 15 ms 50 ms
Second level 30 ms (+15ms) 150 ms (+100ms)
Third level 45 ms 250 ms
Level 4 60 ms 350 ms
Level 5 75 ms 450 ms
*Note: If an expansion unit is connected, the response/operation time will be increased by an additional 10-30ms on top of the above. *
Calculation basis for safe distance (refer to ISO 13855):
S=K×T+CS=K×T+C
S: Safe distance
K: Approaching speed (personnel: 1.6m/s; Machine: Need to consult authoritative institutions)
T: Total response time=machine stop time+G9SX system response time (from input change to output disconnection).
C: The additional distance depends on the minimum detectable object diameter of the safety light curtain.
Engineer practice: When designing a multi-level logic AND gate series system, the accumulated response time of each level must be included in the T value. For example, a 5-level series system has a maximum response time of 75ms from the highest level input OFF to the lowest level output OFF, which is 5 times slower than the 15ms of a single-stage system. If the stopping time of the machine is 50ms, the total T=125ms, and the corresponding safety distance will significantly increase.
Best practices for installation and maintenance
Physical installation:
The G9SX unit should be installed in a control cabinet with a protection level of IP54 or higher.
At least 25mm of space should be reserved on both sides, with at least 50mm of space above and below to ensure heat dissipation and wiring.
Install using DIN rails and ensure they are locked in place.
Wiring specifications:
The power terminal A2 must be grounded to enhance its ability to resist electromagnetic interference.
For logical AND gate connections, twisted pair shielded cables must be used, with a maximum length of no more than 100 meters.
The external wiring impedance of safety input and reset input should be less than 100 Ω, and the capacitance should be less than 10nF.
Pre start check and regular verification:
After the first power on, the device will display the current setting status (such as cross detection mode, reset mode, logic AND gate mode, switching function mode) through LED indicator lights within the first 3 seconds. Engineers can use this to quickly verify configurations.
Daily check: Confirm that the ERR indicator light is not constantly on or flashing. By manually triggering safety inputs (such as pressing emergency stop, opening light curtain), verify whether the corresponding safety outputs and indicator lights (EI, ED, UA, UB) respond normally.
Half yearly inspection: check whether the auxiliary contacts of the external contactor are reliably switched; Check whether the connecting cables are loose or worn; For the G9SX-EX expansion unit, due to the electrical lifespan (100000 cycles under rated load) and mechanical lifespan (5 million cycles) of its relay contacts, its remaining lifespan needs to be evaluated.
Precautions for replacing faulty units:
Power off operation: Before replacement, be sure to cut off all power to G9SX.
Record settings: Record all dip switch positions on the old unit (OFF delay time, Logical AND switch, Auto/Manual switch on G9SX-GS).
Terminal block reuse: The G9SX series uses pluggable terminal blocks (screw type or spring cage type). The terminal block of the old unit can be completely pulled out and inserted into the new unit without the need for rewiring. But it is necessary to check whether the Code Marks are consistent to prevent insertion errors.
Configuration recovery: Set the dip switch of the new unit to be exactly the same as the old unit.
Power on test: After replacement, power on again and perform a complete functional test to ensure that all safety functions are functioning properly.
