Technical features

Watchdog timer:

Function: The watchdog timer is used to monitor the operation status of the system to prevent the system from falling into an infinite loop or dead state due to software failure or external interference.

Operation: Each time any register is accessed, the watchdog timer count is reinitialised back to the input value, the watchdog flag bit is cleared and the watchdog interrupt output is cleared. Periodic accesses to the watchdog timer will prevent a watchdog alarm from occurring; if an access does not occur, the alarm will be repeated.

Disable: writing zeros to specific registers (e.g., registers C and D) will disable the watchdog alarm function.

Registers:

Command Register (Register B): contains mask bits, control bits, and flag bits used to control various functions and states of the module.

Watchdog Alarm Register: always reads the input value, but the actual countdown value is internal and not directly accessible to the user.

Data Transfer:

Transfer Enable (Te bit): in the Command Register, the Te bit is used to enable and disable data tracing between internal and external registers. When set to a logic zero (0), tracing is disabled and the data in the external registers is frozen.
