The BENTLY 3500/92, specifically the 136180-01 hardware revision, is the primary interface for exporting machinery health data from a 3500 protection rack to external systems. While the 3500 rack performs autonomous machinery protection (trips), the 3500/92 module allows Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLCs to access real-time values, status bits, and alarm events. This integration is essential for modern centralized plant monitoring and data logging.
The 136180-01 module supports a variety of communication standards, most notably Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP. It features both serial and Ethernet ports, providing flexibility for different plant network architectures. By mapping the 3500 rack's internal data—such as vibration levels, thrust position, and temperature—to standard Modbus registers, the gateway ensures that the machinery data is easily digestible by third-party software and HMI platforms.

In critical infrastructure, data continuity is vital. The 3500/92 module can be installed in a redundant configuration within the 3500 rack. In this setup, two 136180-01 modules operate in parallel; if the primary gateway fails, the secondary unit takes over the communication tasks immediately without data loss. This ensures that the plant operator's view of machinery health is never compromised.
The 3500/92 is configured using the Bently Nevada 3500 Rack Configuration Software. Users can define custom Modbus maps, selecting exactly which parameters are sent to the DCS. Security features are embedded to prevent unauthorized changes to the rack's configuration through the communication ports, adhering to industrial cybersecurity best practices.
Beyond simple monitoring, the BENTLY 3500/92 plays a key role in Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM). By streaming high-accuracy data to System 1 software or other diagnostic platforms, it enables vibration analysts to perform trend analysis and early fault detection. This module transforms the 3500 rack from a standalone protection device into an integrated part of the plant's digital transformation strategy.
