The Emerson A6824R is a high-density relay output module designed for the DeltaV series I/O family. It provides 24 independent relay outputs capable of switching AC or DC loads, making it ideal for discrete control applications such as motor starters, valve actuators, and alarm annunciators.
Each of the 24 channels features a form A (SPST-NO) relay contact rated for 2 A at 24 VDC or 120 VAC. The relays are isolated channel-to-channel and from the system backplane, ensuring safe operation even when switching inductive loads. The module includes built-in snubber circuits to suppress voltage spikes from coils and solenoids. All outputs are updated synchronously with the controller's logic scan, providing deterministic switching.

The A6824R mounts on a DeltaV carrier and communicates with the controller via the local I/O bus. Front-panel LEDs indicate the state of each output, simplifying troubleshooting. The module supports output forcing for commissioning and maintenance without requiring field wiring disconnection. It also includes diagnostic features such as open-wire detection and blown fuse monitoring per channel.
In chemical plants, the A6824R controls on/off valves and pumps. In power generation, it drives turbine trip solenoids and generator breakers. The module is also widely used in material handling systems to control conveyor belts and diverters. Its robust design ensures reliable operation in electrically noisy environments.
Operating temperature range is -40°C to +70°C with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity. The module meets ISA-S71.04 G3 severity level for corrosive atmospheres and is certified for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. Compliance with CE, UL 61010-1, and CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1 is standard.
The Emerson A6824R relay output module delivers reliable and flexible discrete control for DeltaV systems. Its high channel count, isolation, and diagnostic capabilities make it a versatile choice for both simple and complex automation tasks.
