The Prosoft PMF1216D61 is a high-performance FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 communication module designed for Rockwell Automation ControlLogix platforms. It acts as a master (Link Active Scheduler) on the H1 segment, allowing ControlLogix processors to interface directly with FOUNDATION Fieldbus devices such as pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, valves, and analyzers. The module supports up to 16 fieldbus devices per segment and provides full access to device parameters, function block execution, and advanced diagnostics.
Fieldbus Standard: FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 (IEC 61158-2)
Data Rate: 31.25 kbit/s
Number of Devices: Up to 16 (max 32 depending on power consumption)
Physical Interface: Screw terminal block for H1 segment
Backplane Interface: ControlLogix (RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000)
Communication: Scheduled and unscheduled (VCR) exchanges
Link Master (LAS): Yes, configurable as LAS or basic device
Diagnostics: Device status, communication statistics, segment health
HART Pass-through: Supported via FOUNDATION Fieldbus HART proxy
Power Supply: 24 V DC (from backplane or external)
Power Consumption: 500 mA @ 5 V, 10 mA @ 24 V
Operating Temperature: 0°C to +60°C
Certifications: CE, UL, ATEX, IECEx for hazardous locations

The PMF1216D61 fully implements the FOUNDATION Fieldbus stack, including scheduled communication for control-in-the-field and unscheduled communication for configuration and diagnostics. The module supports Device Description (DD) files and Capability Files (CFF), allowing automatic configuration of fieldbus devices from the ControlLogix project. It can act as a Link Active Scheduler (LAS) to manage communication on the H1 segment or as a basic device if another LAS is present.
The module appears as a generic module in RSLogix 5000, with an Add-On Instruction (AOI) library provided by Prosoft to simplify data exchange. Process variables, device status, and alarm information are mapped directly to controller tags. The module supports up to 32 DD-identified devices and can store up to 16,000 configuration parameters. It also includes a built-in web server for remote monitoring and diagnostics via Ethernet.
This module is ideal for process automation applications in oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, and power generation industries where FOUNDATION Fieldbus devices are deployed. It allows ControlLogix systems to participate in fieldbus-based control strategies, reducing wiring and enabling advanced diagnostics for predictive maintenance.
