Product Overview

The Banner Q45ULIU64ACR is a versatile ultrasonic sensor from the Q45U series, designed for proximity sensing applications requiring non-contact detection. The sensor utilizes ultrasonic technology with time-of-flight measurement principles to provide reliable detection of objects regardless of color, transparency, or surface reflectivity. The Q45ULIU64ACR features a rugged rectangular housing and is suitable for a wide range of industrial automation applications.


Technical Specifications

Sensing Performance

The Q45ULIU64ACR provides a sensing range of 100 mm to 1.4 meters in proximity mode, with a maximum measurement range capability extending to 20 meters for specialized applications. The sensing beam utilizes ultrasonic waves at a frequency of 230 kHz, enabling detection of objects that are challenging for optical sensors, including clear glass, liquids, and dark or reflective surfaces. The sensor operates using time-of-flight sensing technology, which measures the time delay between transmitted and reflected ultrasonic pulses.

Analog Output

The sensor features a selectable analog output configurable for either 0-10 V DC or 4-20 mA sourcing. The analog voltage output rating is 10 mA maximum, while the analog current output rating supports a load impedance range of 1 to 500 Ohms. The analog linearity is specified at 1.0% of full scale, providing accurate distance measurement for process control applications.

Electrical Specifications

The Q45ULIU64ACR features a rectangular housing constructed from PBT material. The sensor includes a 2-meter flying lead cable for electrical connection. The cable length is 2 meters (6.5 feet). The housing style is rectangular, and the device type is classified as a sensor. The sensor weighs approximately 0.76 pounds (345 grams).

Configuration and Adjustments

The sensor is configured using a TEACH button and DIP switches for parameter adjustment. Remote TEACH capability is supported, allowing configuration from a remote location. The minimum response time is 40 milliseconds. The warm-up time required for full specification performance is 15 minutes. The sensor is not PC configurable and does not support IO-Link, RS-232, RS-485, or wireless communication protocols.


Mechanical Shock and Vibration

The Q45ULIU64ACR meets IEC 60947-5-2 requirements for mechanical shock with a rating of 30G for 11 milliseconds duration, half sine wave. For vibration, the sensor complies with MIL-STD-202F Method 201A, with vibration testing from 10 to 60 Hz maximum, double amplitude of 0.06 inches, and maximum acceleration of 10G.

Features and Applications

The sensor features clear object detection capability, making it suitable for detecting transparent materials such as glass and plastic. Remote Teach functionality enables configuration flexibility. The sensor does not include washdown rating, chemical resistance, or timing functions. Typical applications include liquid level monitoring, roll diameter measurement, loop control, and presence detection of transparent or difficult-to-detect objects in industrial automation environments.

Connection

The Q45ULIU64ACR is supplied with a 2-meter cable with flying leads. The connection type is integral with flying leads, and the pin/wire count is 5 wires. A quick disconnect version (Q45ULIU64ACRQ) is also available with a 7/8-inch mini quick disconnect connector.
