On August 15, the "2023 International Papermaking Technology Report" co-sponsored by the China Paper Society, the China Pulp and Paper Research Institute and the Brazilian Paper Society, and co-organized by the Book Zan Eucalyptus, was successfully held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Center.
Sun Bo, Vice chairman of China Paper Society, Party Secretary, Chairman and general manager of China Pulp and Paper Research Institute; Jin Fuming, Director of Academic Exchange Working Committee of China Paper Society and Technical director of China Light International Engineering Co., LTD.; Fang Guiqian, Deputy director of Academic Exchange Working Committee of China Paper Society and researcher of Institute of Forest Chemical Industry of Chinese Academy of Forestry; Tian Chao, deputy general manager of China Pulp and Paper Research Institute, Cao Baoping, deputy general manager of China Pulp and Paper Research Institute, and speakers of the technical report attended the meeting.
The conference attracted nearly 200 representatives from domestic and foreign experts, scholars, enterprise representatives and teachers and students of universities in pulp and paper industry and upstream and downstream industries.
At the opening ceremony, Jin Fuming, director of the Academic Exchange Working Committee of China Paper Society and Technical director of China Light International Engineering Co., Ltd. gave a speech on behalf of the organizers. He first expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Brazilian Paper Society for the support of this technical report, and warmly welcomed the experts and guests attending the conference! Jin Fuming said that the proposal of the "double carbon" goal has redefined the target path of green low-carbon transformation and the mission vision of sustainable development for the pulp and paper industry. As one of the key industries in energy saving and carbon reduction, the pulp and paper industry must accelerate its transformation from clean and sustainable raw materials, digital and intelligent manufacturing processes, green and high-performance products, continue to optimize the industry structure, develop biomass and new energy projects, implement energy saving and carbon reduction actions, and promote the deep integration of industry and information technology. Promote the industrial Internet industrial upgrading, build a green and low-carbon industrial ecological chain, so as to better integrate into and serve the economy and society.
Mr. Darcio Berni, Executive Director of the Brazilian Paper Society, delivered an online speech on behalf of the Brazilian Paper Society and introduced the relevant situation of the pulp and paper industry in Brazil. Darcio Berni said that Brazil, as one of the world's leading pulp and paper producers, will continue to expand its investments in research and development, afforestation and innovative manufacturing. At the same time, we also hope to further expand cooperation with China's forest product processing industry, and jointly commit to developing professional technology of the whole industry chain of pulp and paper industry.
The technical report was chaired by Fang Guiqian, deputy director of the Academic Exchange Working Committee of China Paper Society and researcher of the Institute of Forest Chemical Industry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry. The meeting invited a total of 12 experts and scholars from China, Brazil and Australia to share hot topics such as how to change the energy saving and emission reduction technology of the paper industry under the background of "double carbon", develop paper-based advanced functional materials under the background of science and technology power, and realize the innovation and development of "replacing plastic with paper" under the background of limited (banned) plastic.
Grasp global market dynamics
Jointly build green and low-carbon industries
Ambassador Jose Carlos da Fonseca Junior, Executive Director of the Brazilian Forest Industry Association, delivered a keynote report on "The Brazilian Forest Industry", highlighting the outstanding contribution of the Brazilian forest industry to achieving carbon reduction and carbon neutrality in the current climate crisis. The Brazilian forest industry has developed about 5,000 renewable, recyclable, mostly biodegradable bio-based products, and the share of renewable energy generation has reached 90%.
Mr. Joao Cordeiro, head of the pulp and Paper Line of AFRY Group, introduced the dynamics of the global paper market and the development of the pulp and paper industry in China and Brazil under the title "Global Pulp and Paper Market dynamics - focusing on Brazil". Joao Cordeiro mentioned in the report that the global pulp trade volume has reached 70 million tons, and the fastest growing area of demand in paper products is paper towels and wrapping paper, driving the industry's demand for pulp and recycled fibers to further increase.
Give play to the green advantages of biomass
Realize high value utilization of resources
Professor Jin Yongcan of Nanjing Forestry University, with the title of "Carbon Properties and Lignin resource Utilization in pulp and paper Industry", introduced the main sources and development history of carbon emissions in the paper industry, analyzed the problems faced in realizing the goal of "dual carbon", and pointed out that the high-quality sustainable development of the paper industry needs to strengthen the recycling of waste resources and reduce energy consumption. Applying industrial lignin from pulping to agricultural and forestry crops is an effective way to realize lignin resource utilization and carbon balance of fiber raw materials.
