AB 1756-DNB ControlLogix DeviceNet Scanner Module

IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND SAFETY WARNINGS: Solid-state equipment has different characteristics than electromechanical equipment and should be used in a manner that ensures the application is feasible and Rockwell is not responsible for consequential damages. Documentation indicates safety risks, such as explosion, electric shock, etc., through different markings, and electrostatic protection is required when operating the equipment.


Hazardous area certification and environmental requirements: In Europe, Zone 2 certified products have restrictions on use and require specific protection level enclosures; in North America, Class I Division 2 environments, the combined system temperature code is specified, and operation is required to prevent the risk of explosion. Applicable to pollution level 2, overvoltage category II, altitude of 2000 metres below the industrial environment, need to be installed in a suitable enclosure, the enclosure should be flame-retardant.


Module Overview and Preparation for Installation: The module is used to connect a DeviceNet network to a ControlLogix system and requires a chassis and power supply prior to installation. The module can be installed in any slot in the ControlLogix chassis, or multiple modules can be installed.

Module Settings: The module is shipped with factory default settings. The communication rate (125Kbps, 250Kbps, 500Kbps) and node address (00 - 63) can be changed using a rotary switch or RSNetWorx for DeviceNet software.


Module Installation and Connections: To install the module, align the module board with the chassis rails and slide it in, making sure the backplane connectors are well connected. Connect the module to the DeviceNet network using the specified plugs, taking care to prevent arcing and risk of explosion when connecting. You can connect to a computer through the USB port for programming and other operations. You need to install specific software and drivers, and pay attention to the length of the USB cable and the requirements of the use of the environment.


Configuration and troubleshooting: Configure the scan list with the RSNetWorx for DeviceNet software. Monitor and troubleshoot equipment faults through the module's alphanumeric display and status indicators, different display codes and indicator statuses represent different fault causes, and can be handled accordingly.

Interface structure and specifications: The module supports a variety of inputs, outputs and status structures to interact with the controller. Includes technical specifications such as connector, communication rate, weight, temperature code, power, as well as environmental specifications and certification information.

Manufacturing: In the manufacturing industries such as CNC machinery, electronics manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, tobacco, plastic machinery, etc., the 1756-DNB module can be connected to remote I/O modules, sensors, actuators and other equipment to achieve communication between equipment.
