What is the current situation of the development of life science and biotechnology in China and the advantages of development? A problem? From 1965, China synthesized bovine insulin for the first time in the world to participate in the international human genome project; From the development and production of genetically engineered drugs and vaccines, we have made considerable achievements in the field of biopharmaceuticals. In addition, the research and development of biotechnology also has a considerable role in agricultural production and environmental protection. For example, the hybrid technology of rice has solved the food problem of the world's concern. Therefore, on the whole, our country currently has a certain influence in the field of life science and biotechnology, and the accumulation of many years, but also let us have the strength and technology to impact the international forefront.

Analysis of current situation

Life science in our country originates from medicine and agriculture. Around the 1950s, China established research institutions in biochemistry, cell biology and neuroscience. In the 1970s, we already had a relatively complete scientific research system for modern life sciences and biotechnology. Up to now, China has formed a four-legged tripod situation, representing the four bases of biotechnology and life science research have formed a scale: Beijing base, Shanghai base, Southwest base, Wuhan base.

At present, the priority areas of life science in China include genome and proteomics, identification and cloning of major disease-related genes, molecular biology and biological tidiums, cytology and developmental biology, and so on. Internationally, our scientists have also undertaken the sequencing of 1% of the human genome, and our country is the only country in the developing world to join the sequencing of the human genome, which also reflects the strength of our country in the field of life sciences. Scientists have cloned more than 800 full-length DNA of functional new genes, and have applied for a number of domestic and foreign patents.

In recent years, China has made outstanding scientific research achievements in biochemistry and neurobiology in the field of life science. Driven by the development of biological science, biotechnology has also made long-term progress, for example, in the field of medical biology, China's genetically engineered drugs have nearly 20 kinds of products on the market, and more than 20 kinds of drugs have entered

First, the market share of products has increased significantly. At present, among the top ten pharmaceutical varieties with the largest sales in the world, we can independently develop and produce eight, which shows that China's biotechnology drugs have the ability to independently research and development. In agriculture, research on plant gene engineering, hybrid rice research and agricultural microbial gene engineering have also made gratifying research results, to a great extent, to promote the advancement of agricultural technology in our country and even the world.

Existing problem

Although the development of life sciences and biotechnology has made great achievements in our country, one thing that cannot be changed is our basic national conditions. China is a large country with a population of 1.3 billion, so it faces great challenges in the fields of population and health, agricultural production and development. Some diseases that harm human health have become the focus of social attention. Agricultural development in the efficiency and quality and developed countries are still a certain gap, therefore, these problems reflect our modern biotechnology industry is still in a relatively early stage, need us to develop to a higher level.
