NuPRO-865 is based on Intel ® The Full Size SBC of the 865G chipset still undertakes core control tasks in many key industrial sites to this day. Faced with harsh environments such as high temperature, dust, and vibration, even the most reliable hardware is inevitably prone to malfunctions.
When your NuPRO-865 fails to start, crashes frequently, or has abnormal peripheral recognition, systematic hardware troubleshooting is the only shortcut to solving the problem. This article is based on the official technical manual and combined with the practical experience of frontline engineers, presenting a detailed and unique NuPRO-865 hardware fault diagnosis and repair guide to help you quickly restore production.
Chapter 1: Preliminary Diagnosis and Environmental Preparation
Before disassembling the machine, it is necessary to accurately define the fault phenomenon. Common fault manifestations include: complete system unresponsive (black screen without alarm), repeated restarts after power on, BIOS error unable to enter the operating system, and specific peripheral (such as hard disk, network port) function failure.
Key steps:
Visual and physical inspection: Before opening the chassis, please make sure to confirm that the system has disconnected all power sources. According to the manual warning, the board must prevent electrostatic discharge and physical impact. It is recommended to operate on a static free workbench, wear an anti-static wristband, and use the anti-static bag provided with the product to handle the board.
Clear CMOS: If the system cannot start due to incorrect BIOS settings (such as incorrect memory frequency or CPU external frequency configuration), the CMOS data can be cleared by setting the JP1 jumper.
Operating instructions: Move JP1 from the default "1-2" pin short-circuit state to the "2-3" position (Clear CMOS), wait for a few seconds, and then return to the "1-2" position. This can restore the BIOS to its factory default state, solving the vast majority of startup failures caused by overclocking or parameter settings.
Chapter 2: Troubleshooting of Core Component Installation (CPU and Memory)
Poor contact between the CPU and memory is the primary reason for the system not lighting up. NuPRO-865 supports Intel Pentium 4/Celeron processors with Socket 478, FSB up to 800MHz, and maximum memory support of 2GB DDR333/400.
1. CPU troubleshooting:
Check pins: Remove the CPU and observe if the socket 478 base pins are bent or oxidized. Be sure to pay attention to the anti mistake gap of the CPU during installation. The manual emphasizes that before removing the CPU, it is necessary to turn off the power and wait for about three minutes until the heat sink of the cooling fan is completely cooled down to prevent burns.
Installation of radiator: Many faults stem from poor heat dissipation. It is strongly recommended to use only the heat sink designed specifically for NuPRO-865, rather than the regular fan that comes with the CPU. Insufficient contact or uneven application of thermal grease can cause the CPU to overheat, leading to system crashes or shutdown protection. Ensure that the radiator clip is securely fastened to the fixed slot of Socket 478, and that the fan power cord is correctly connected to CN8 (CPU FAN Connector).
2. Memory troubleshooting:
Installation depth: NuPRO-865 is equipped with two 184 pin DIMM slots. When installing, press the memory module vertically at a 90 degree angle until the plastic buckles on both sides are fully locked and make a "click" sound. If the insertion is not smooth, do not forcefully remove the memory module and try again.
Cross testing: If the system alarms or restarts repeatedly, try using only one memory module inserted into different slots for testing to rule out issues of single memory damage or specific memory slot failure.

Chapter 3: BIOS and Firmware Deep Configuration (Award BIOS)
If the hardware installation is correct but the system cannot load the operating system, it is necessary to enter the BIOS for low-level configuration. NuPRO-865 uses Award BIOS and can be accessed by pressing the "Del" key during startup.
1. IDE/SATA device recognition exception:
In the "Standard CMOS Features" menu, the system may not recognize the newly connected SATA hard drive. NuPRO-865 supports two SATA interfaces (SATA1/SATA2) and two IDE interfaces (Primary/Secondary).
Solution: Go to "Integrated Peripherals" ->"On Chip IDE Device". Ensure that the 'On Chip Serial ATA' option is set to 'Auto' or 'Enhanced Mode'.
Manual detection: In the "IDE Channel X Master/Slave" submenu, select "IDE HDD Auto Detection" and press Enter to force the BIOS to detect hard disk parameters.
