Product Overview
The Eaton XT series stabilizing pump controller (models XTJP and XTJY) is designed specifically for stabilizing pumps in fire and water supply systems, ensuring that the system pressure is maintained within the set range. This series of controllers supports two modes: direct start (full voltage start) and star delta start, suitable for motors with different power and starting requirements.
The XT series controller adopts Eaton's independently developed combination motor controller, which integrates circuit breakers and overload protection, with a compact structure and reliable performance. Its modular design, global certification standards, and rich optional features make it an ideal choice for industrial and commercial fire protection systems.
Startup method analysis
1. Direct start (full pressure start)
The XTJP controller adopts a direct starting method, and the motor is subjected to full voltage when starting, with a starting current of about 600% of the rated current. This method is suitable for low-power motors (usually not exceeding 50HP), with a simple structure and fast response.
2. Star Triangle Startup
The XTJY controller adopts a star delta starting method and is suitable for delta connected motors with six or twelve leads. When starting, the windings are connected in a star shape, with each phase winding voltage being 58% of the line voltage, starting current being 33% of the normal locked rotor current, and starting torque being 33% of full voltage starting. After adjustable delay, switch to triangle connection and enter normal operation state. This method effectively reduces start-up shock and is suitable for high-power motors or situations with limited grid capacity.
Core components and structural characteristics
1. Combination motor controller
All XT series stabilizing pump controllers come standard with Eaton combination motor controllers, which integrate circuit breakers and overload protection into one, simplify wiring, save space, and improve reliability.
2. Sealed rotating handle mechanism
The controller is equipped with a rotating handle that can be locked in the OFF position to ensure maintenance safety. The handle is mechanically interlocked with the circuit breaker to prevent the cabinet door from opening when the handle is in the ON position (unless the interlock is released using a tool).
3. XT series power control components
The XT series controller adopts Eaton XT power control components, designed specifically for the global market, with small size, wide voltage range, easy installation and maintenance, and modular plug-in structure supporting quick replacement.
4. 120V control power transformer
All controllers come standard with a 120V control power transformer to provide stable power supply for the control circuit.

Installation and wiring specifications
1. Installation location
The controller should be installed as close as possible to the controlled motor and fixed to the wall. There should be sufficient space at the bottom of the cabinet to ensure that cable entry complies with regulations. The controller must not stand on the ground and must be securely fixed with bolts.
2. System pressure connection
The controller comes standard with a ¼ inch NPT internal thread pressure interface, located on the bottom outer side of the cabinet. The connecting pipeline of the pressure sensor should be clean and free of pollution, and the pressure value should not exceed the rated range of the sensor.
3. Electrical connection
All electrical connections must comply with national and local electrical regulations. The incoming voltage terminals L1, L2, L3 and the grounding terminal are located at the top of the circuit breaker. Before wiring, it should be confirmed that the nameplate parameters (voltage, power, model) are consistent with the actual ones.
Debugging and Running
1. Motor steering inspection
After power on, turn the H.O.A switch to the "HAND" position and immediately return to the "OFF" position, and observe the direction of the motor rotation. If it is incorrect, disconnect the power supply and adjust the phase sequence of the contactor load terminal or motor terminal.
2. Start stop test
Place the H.O.A switch in the "AUTO" position. If the system pressure is lower than the set value (1Lo), the controller will automatically start the water pump. After the pressure reaches the stop point (1Lo+HYs), the pump will automatically stop. If equipped with a running time timer, stop the pump after running for the set time.
