8.1 Modular Design

PFXSTM6400WAD adopts a split structure: the display module (front panel) and the rear module (electronic unit) are separated. This design allows for the installation of the rear module in the control cabinet first, and then the display module can be fastened, making it easy for a single person to complete the installation in a small space. External dimensions of display module: width 201.2mm, height 137.2mm, depth 17.1mm (excluding protrusions); Rear module dimensions: width 145.6mm x height 108.23mm x depth 41.4mm (excluding protrusions). Total weight: Display module ≤ 0.49kg, rear module ≤ 0.27kg, totaling approximately 0.76kg.

8.2 Panel opening size

When installing, it is necessary to process according to the given opening size: circular installation hole? In fact, the opening size table provided in the document shows A, B, and C as 22.5mm, 4.0mm, and 30.0mm, respectively. However, based on experience, 7-inch widescreen HMIs typically have rectangular openings. However, the document states' Diameter 22.5 mm ', which seems contradictory. Take a closer look: The "Panel cut out dimensions" table in the document provides three sizes, A and B, and indicates the thickness range of the panel material: steel 1.5-6.0mm, glass fiber reinforced plastic (GF30 or above) 3.0-6.0mm. However, typically Pro face STM6000 series 7-inch models use rectangular openings, which may be a simplification of the document or only refer to the size of the mounting bolts? Given the original text, we will follow the description as follows: the opening diameter is 22.5mm (+0/-0.3mm), with additional dimensions of 4.0mm and 30.0mm. During actual installation, reference should be made to the official installation manual. We keep the original information but do not delve into the contradictions.

8.3 Grounding and Cooling

Grounding requirements: Functional grounding resistance ≤ 100 Ω, using 2mm ² (AWG 14) or thicker wire, connected to FG and SG terminals. Cooling method: Natural air circulation (fanless design), therefore, during installation, it is necessary to ensure sufficient space around to dissipate heat and avoid close contact with heating elements.


Software Platform and Ecosystem

PFXSTM6400WAD supports two generations of Pro face software platforms:

GP Pro EX: A classic visual programming software with powerful features that supports a wide range of drivers and scripts.

BLUE (i.e. BLUE Open Studio): a new generation of HMI software based on HTML5 and modern web technology, providing more modern interface design, data visualization, and IoT connectivity capabilities. The model is labeled 'When using BLUE', indicating that its memory configuration (128MB FLASH, 467MB storage) is optimized for BLUE.

Users can use Pro face's HMI Design Studio for project development and obtain technical support through Knowledge Base (FAQs) and Solution Search. The product is also compatible with Pro face's Edge Box, industrial PC and other broader ecosystems, supports HMI Centric architecture, and realizes edge computing and data relay.


Application scenarios and selection suggestions

Typical Applications

Packaging machinery: used for setting packaging parameters, displaying production counts, and diagnosing faults. IP65 front panel is washable.

Electronic assembly line: As a workstation operation terminal, it displays work instructions and records test results.

HVAC: Control fans, valves, and display temperature and humidity trends.

Small process control: Communicate with PLC or instruments to achieve data acquisition and alarm management.

Hazardous environment: Class 1 Div 2 certified, suitable for use in places where flammable vapors may be present.

Selection considerations

If a larger screen size is required, the STM6000 series has multiple specifications to choose from.

If you need support for multi touch or higher brightness, you can consider Pro face SP5000 series or Advanced HMI.

This model is a DC analog type, and there are also variants with AC power supply or audio output (with different model suffixes).


Maintenance and Precautions

Sealing gasket replacement: As the protection level of the front panel depends on the installation of the sealing gasket, the gasket should be replaced regularly after long-term use or disassembly to maintain IP65 protection.

Cleaning: Use a soft cloth dipped in neutral detergent to clean the screen, avoiding the use of organic solvents.

Battery: The clock battery cannot be replaced by the user. When a clock error message appears, please contact after-sales service.

Software compatibility: Confirm that the engineering software version used (GP Pro EX or BLUE) supports this model.
