Product Overview and Positioning

In the field of human-machine interaction in industrial automation, the reliability, display effect, and environmental adaptability of touch screens directly determine operational efficiency and equipment normal operation time. The PFXSTM6400WAD launched by Pro face (a brand under Schneider Electric) is a 7-inch widescreen model in the STM6000 series, which is an analog resistive touch screen powered by DC 24V. This product combines high-resolution TFT color LCD, rich communication interfaces, and wide temperature working capabilities, making it particularly suitable for small and medium-sized automation equipment, packaging machinery, electronic manufacturing production lines, and process control stations that require a compact operating interface. Its modular design separates the display module from the rear electronic module, simplifying installation and facilitating maintenance and upgrades.


Display performance and visual experience

2.1 Screen specifications

The PFXSTM6400WAD is equipped with a 7-inch widescreen TFT color LCD with a physical resolution of 800 × 480 pixels (WVGA format). The effective display area size is 154.08 millimeters wide and 85.92 millimeters high (approximately 6.066 × 3.382 inches), with an aspect ratio of 16:9, which conforms to the visual habits of modern human-machine interfaces. In terms of color performance, the screen supports 16 million colors (24 bit true color) and can present delicate gradients and rich image details. Whether it is displaying device status charts, trend curves, or embedded process flow images, it can achieve industrial grade graphic quality.

2.2 Backlight lifespan and brightness adjustment

The design lifespan of the backlight module is 50000 hours or longer (operating continuously at an ambient temperature of 25 ° C until the brightness decays to 25% of the initial value). This means that even under harsh operating conditions of 24-hour uninterrupted operation, the backlight can maintain an effective lifespan of over 5.7 years. For non continuous running applications, the actual available time is longer. In order to adapt to different environmental lighting conditions (such as dim control rooms or bright daylight), the screen brightness supports 16 adjustable levels, which can be directly operated through the touch screen or controlled by the upper software. This feature ensures readability under strong light and avoids the glare during nighttime operations.


Touch screen technology: analog resistive type

PFXSTM6400WAD adopts an analog resistive touch panel, which is a technology that has been tested and proven in industrial environments. Its touch resolution is 1024 × 1024 points, which can accurately detect the touch position. Unlike capacitive touch screens, resistive technology is insensitive to moisture, oil, and glove operation, making it very suitable for scenarios where operators may wear gloves in factory workshop environments. The nominal touch life is 1000000 times or more, which is sufficient to meet the entire lifecycle requirements of most industrial equipment. It should be noted that the touch screen is a single point touch (analog resistive naturally has a single point), suitable for conventional operations such as buttons, data input, menu selection, etc., rather than complex gesture control.


Electrical characteristics and power requirements

4.1 Input power supply

The rated input voltage of this model is 24V DC, and the allowable fluctuation range is 19.2V to 28.8V (i.e. -20% to+20% of the nominal value), which is in line with the common output tolerance of switching power supplies in industrial control systems. The allowed voltage drop time is 5 milliseconds or less, which means that the device will not reset during brief power outages (such as voltage dips caused by contactor switching). The power consumption of the whole machine is divided into two parts: the maximum power consumption of the rear module is 6.8W (when supplying power to external devices), and the power consumption of the rear module is ≤ 3.5W when not supplying power to the outside; the maximum power consumption of the display module is 3.6W, and ≤ 1.3W when not supplying power to the outside. The comprehensive maximum power consumption is about 10.4W, with low heat generation, suitable for installation in sealed control cabinets. The maximum surge current is 30A. When designing the power supply, it should be ensured that the upstream protective devices can withstand this transient impact.

4.2 Insulation and Voltage Resistance

The power terminal and ground terminal (FG) can withstand a withstand voltage test of 1000V AC, 20mA, and 1 minute. The insulation resistance is ≥ 10M Ω under 500V DC test. This indicates that the equipment has good electrical isolation performance and can resist common mode interference and surges in industrial sites.

Environmental adaptability and reliability

5.1 Temperature and Humidity

The working environment temperature range of PFXSTM6400WAD is 0 to 50 ° C (32 to 122 ° F), covering the vast majority of industrial indoor scenes. The storage humidity ranges from 10% to 90% relative humidity (non condensing, wet bulb temperature not exceeding 39 ° C). For environments with condensation risks, heating or ventilation measures should be taken.
