The PCS 8010 expansion module connects to a Lauer panel or controller via its RS-485 port, using the Modbus RTU protocol. The module's digital inputs can interface with pushbuttons, sensors, limit switches, and other discrete devices. The digital outputs can drive relays, indicators, solenoids, and small actuators. The analog inputs are suitable for pressure sensors, temperature transducers, and potentiometers, while the analog outputs can provide control signals to variable speed drives and proportional valves.
The module includes built-in diagnostic LEDs for each channel, indicating the status of inputs and outputs. It also features a watchdog timer that automatically resets the module in case of communication loss.
Mount the module on a standard 35 mm DIN-rail inside a control cabinet. Connect the 24 V DC power supply to the terminal block. The RS-485 communication cable connects to the designated terminals; it is recommended to use a shielded twisted-pair cable. Connect the field wiring to the removable terminal blocks. The module's address is set via a rotary switch or DIP switches on the front panel.
The module is configured through the Lauer panel's setup menu or via a PC-based configuration tool. The Modbus address (1-247) is set using the DIP switches. The module supports standard Modbus function codes for reading and writing to its I/O registers. Up to 32 modules can be connected on a single RS-485 bus.
The PCS 8010 requires no routine maintenance beyond periodic inspection of connections and cleaning of the enclosure. Diagnostic LEDs indicate communication status and individual channel states. In case of faults, the module generates a communication error that can be detected by the controlling panel.
This expansion module is ideal for applications where the main panel's built-in I/O is insufficient. It can be used to add remote I/O capabilities or to replace older, obsolete I/O modules. The Modbus RTU protocol ensures compatibility with a wide range of PLCs and SCADA systems.
CE certified and RoHS compliant. The module is designed for industrial use in controlled environments.
Lauer provides a module user manual, wiring diagrams, and a Modbus register map. Technical support is available for integration questions.
The Lauer PCS 8010 Expansion Module offers a flexible and cost-effective way to expand the I/O capabilities of Lauer control systems, enhancing the functionality of existing installations.
