General Description

The Lauer PSC090 Topline Mini is a compact, cost‑effective operator interface panel designed for small to medium automation applications where space is at a premium. It features a clear alphanumeric display and a tactile keypad, providing a simple yet powerful interface for parameter adjustment, machine status monitoring, and diagnostic access. The unit accepts a wide input voltage range (19‑33 V DC), making it compatible with various industrial power supplies.

Display and Keypad

The PSC090 incorporates a 2‑line by 16‑character LCD with an integrated LED backlight (green/white). The contrast is adjustable via a front‑mounted potentiometer. The display supports standard ASCII and international character sets. The membrane keypad consists of 12 keys: 6 function keys (F1‑F6) and 6 navigation/enter keys (arrows, Enter, Escape, and a clear key). The keys are durable and provide positive tactile feedback, rated for over 500,000 operations. The front overlay is rated IP54 for limited dust and water protection.

Power Supply and Electrical Features

The unit operates from a DC supply of 19 to 33 V (nominal 24 V) with reverse polarity protection and an internal fuse (resettable PTC). Power consumption is typically 150 mA at 24 V. The controller includes a switch‑mode regulator that efficiently handles the wide input range without overheating. The device is protected against transients and surges per IEC 61000‑4‑5, making it suitable for industrial environments with heavy electrical noise.

Communication and Interface

Onboard flash memory (128 KB) stores up to 64 user‑defined screens, each containing up to 4 dynamic variables. Variables can be linked to external PLC registers or internal counters/timers. The PSC090 requires minimal maintenance. Clean the front overlay with a dry or damp cloth – avoid solvents. If the display becomes dim, adjust the contrast potentiometer. Common issues: “Communication Timeout” – verify that the PLC is sending data and that the protocol matches; “Keypad Not Responding” – check for key jamming or contamination. The unit stores diagnostic codes that can be displayed by pressing F1+F6 during power‑up – refer to the manual for code interpretation. Internal components are not user‑serviceable; if the unit fails, replace the entire module.

Compatibility and Variants

The PSC090 Topline Mini is compatible with all LAUER LCA and PCS series controllers, as well as PLCs from Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, and Mitsubishi (via Modbus).
