Product Overview

The Omron NX-ECC202 is an EtherCAT Coupler Unit belonging to the NX series I/O system family. This coupler serves as the network interface between an EtherCAT master and NX series I/O units, enabling high-speed, high-precision remote I/O control. The NX-ECC202 supports flexible system configuration with high-performance EtherCAT communication, making it an essential component for modern industrial automation architectures that require deterministic real-time data exchange.

The NX-ECC202 features two EtherCAT ports for daisy-chain network topologies. It supports communication cycles ranging from 125 μs to 10,000 μs in Distributed Clock (DC) mode, providing flexibility for applications with varying real-time requirements. The unit delivers exceptional I/O jitter performance of 1 μs maximum for both inputs and outputs, ensuring precise timing for synchronized control applications.


System Capacity

The coupler can connect up to 63 NX Units, enabling extensive system expansion for complex automation tasks. The send and receive PDO data sizes are 1,024 bytes maximum for both input and output, including input data, status information, and unused areas. Mailbox data size is 256 bytes for both input and output, supporting emergency messages and SDO requests.

Power Supply Specifications

The NX-ECC202 requires a 24 VDC unit power supply with a permissible voltage range of 20.4 to 28.8 VDC. The NX Unit power supply capacity is 10 W maximum, with 70% efficiency. The maximum I/O power supply current is 10 A, supporting the connection of multiple I/O units with high power requirements. The I/O power supply voltage range is 5 to 24 VDC (4.5 to 28.8 VDC). The current capacity of power supply terminals is 4 A maximum.

Refreshing Methods

The NX-ECC202 supports multiple refreshing methods to accommodate different application requirements. These include Free-Run refreshing, Synchronous I/O refreshing, Time Stamp refreshing, and Task Period Prioritized refreshing. The flexible refreshing options allow system designers to optimize I/O update timing based on specific control loop requirements.

Node Address Configuration

The node address for the built-in EtherCAT port can be set within a range of 1 to 512 when configured using Sysmac Studio, or 1 to 199 when set using hardware switches. The default communication cycle is configurable based on system requirements.

The NX-ECC202 is designed for reliable operation in industrial environments. The ambient operating temperature range is 0°C to 55°C, with an ambient operating humidity of 10% to 95% without condensation or icing. Ambient storage temperature ranges from -25°C to 70°C. The unit features screwless push-in connector technology for quick and reliable wiring, and is delivered with an end cover. The device conforms to IEC 60068-2-6 for vibration resistance and IEC 60068-2-27 for shock resistance. Noise immunity conforms to IEC61000-4-4 with 2 kV on the power supply line.

The NX-ECC202 complies with applicable standards including cULus Listing (UL 508 or UL61010-2-201), ANSI/ISA 12.12.01, EU EN 61131-2, C-Tick or RCM, KC Registration, NK, and LR certifications.

System Integration

The NX-ECC202 is configured and programmed using Omron's Sysmac Studio automation software. The coupler supports the integration of NX series safety modules, enabling combined I/O control and safety control within a single system.
