The Ramix PMC676TX is a dual-port 10/100Base-T Ethernet controller in the PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) form factor. Designed for use with VME carrier boards or embedded systems, this module adds two independent Fast Ethernet interfaces to a system, enabling network connectivity for data acquisition, control, and communication applications.
Controller Chip: Intel 82559 (or equivalent) dual-port Ethernet MAC
Physical Layer: Two 10/100Base-T PHYs with auto-negotiation
Connectors: Two front-panel RJ45 with integrated magnetics
Data Rate: 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps (auto-negotiating)
Duplex Modes: Half-duplex or full-duplex
Bus Interface: 32-bit, 33 MHz PCI (3.3V or 5V tolerant)
IEEE Compliance: 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3x (flow control)
Boot ROM Support: Optional boot ROM socket for PXE or network boot
Operating Temperature: 0°C to +55°C (commercial), -40°C to +85°C (industrial)
Power Consumption: 3.5 W typical
Dimensions: Standard PMC (149 × 74 mm)

The PMC676TX uses two independent Intel 82559 controllers, each with its own MAC address and PHY. The controllers support hardware checksum offloading, VLAN tagging, and wake-on-LAN. Full-duplex operation allows simultaneous transmit and receive at 200 Mbps aggregate bandwidth per port. The module includes LED indicators on the front panel for link/activity and speed (10/100) per port.
The PMC676TX is supported by standard network drivers for VxWorks, Linux, Windows, and other real-time operating systems commonly used in VME systems. The Intel 82559 chipset is widely supported, ensuring easy integration with legacy and modern software environments. The module also supports network boot via PXE or custom boot ROMs.
This PMC module is used in VME-based industrial controllers, military computers, and telecommunications equipment where dual Ethernet ports are needed for redundant network connections, separate control and data networks, or gateway functions. It is often paired with a Ramix PMC carrier board (e.g., PMC661J) for use in VME systems.
