The Prosoft 5304-MBP-PDPM is a PROFIBUS DP master communication module designed for Schneider Electric Modicon Quantum programmable logic controllers (PLCs). It allows the Quantum processor to act as a PROFIBUS DP Class 1 master, controlling up to 125 PROFIBUS DP slave devices such as drives, I/O blocks, HMIs, and other field devices.

The 5304-MBP-PDPM implements the full PROFIBUS DP-V1 standard, supporting cyclic data exchange (DP-V0) for real-time I/O, acyclic parameterization and diagnostics (DP-V1), and time-stamped data (DP-V2). The module automatically scans the PROFIBUS network and exchanges data with configured slaves based on their GSD files. It can also function as a DP-V1 client for reading/writing slave parameters on demand.
The module is installed in the Quantum backplane and is configured as an I/O module in Unity Pro or Concept software. Data from PROFIBUS slaves is automatically mapped to the Quantum's memory (registers and discrete inputs). Prosoft provides a sample configuration file and an AOI (DFB) for simplified data handling. The module supports hot-standby redundancy for high-availability systems.
Configuration is performed using Prosoft Configuration Builder (PCB), which allows users to import GSD files, assign slave addresses, map I/O data, and set bus parameters. The module includes a diagnostic LED panel and a built-in web server for remote monitoring of bus health, slave status, and communication statistics. An RS-232 debug port is also available for firmware updates and on-site troubleshooting.
This module is widely used in process automation, water treatment, mining, and material handling where Modicon Quantum PLCs need to interface with PROFIBUS devices. It is especially common in legacy installations where PROFIBUS is the predominant fieldbus.
