The Prosoft MVI56-MNETR is a high-performance Modbus TCP/IP communication module for Rockwell Automation ControlLogix platforms. It allows ControlLogix processors to communicate as a Modbus TCP server (slave) or client (master) over Ethernet, enabling integration with SCADA systems, HMIs, drives, power monitors, and other Modbus TCP devices.

In server mode, the module presents a Modbus data map that is directly linked to ControlLogix controller tags. Any Modbus TCP client (e.g., SCADA, HMI, or third-party PLC) can read/write data to the ControlLogix using standard Modbus addressing. The module supports up to 32 simultaneous connections, making it suitable for large monitoring systems.
As a client, the module can issue read/write commands to up to 100 different Modbus TCP servers. The commands can be triggered by logic in the ControlLogix or scheduled at fixed intervals. Data from multiple servers is consolidated into the module's internal data table and then transferred to the Logix processor. This allows the ControlLogix to act as a data concentrator for remote Modbus devices.
The MVI56-MNETR is configured using Prosoft Configuration Builder (PCB) software, which allows setting of IP addresses, Modbus mapping, and client command lists. The module includes a built-in web server for monitoring data values and diagnostics over Ethernet. Front panel LEDs indicate power, module health, network link, and Modbus activity.
This module is widely used in power monitoring systems, building automation, oil and gas pipeline SCADA, and water/wastewater treatment plants where Modbus TCP is the preferred protocol. It also serves as a bridge between ControlLogix systems and energy management software.
