The Sartorius MDB-5E is a precision weighing signal processing module from Sartorius AG, designed for high-accuracy industrial weighing applications. This module belongs to the MDB series and provides reliable signal conditioning for strain gauge type weighing sensors in pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industries.
The MDB-5E provides a stable excitation voltage (5V or 10V DC selectable) for weighing sensors and receives the 1-5 mV/V proportional signal from the sensor. Through low-noise amplification, temperature compensation, digital filtering, and non-linear correction, it converts the weak signal into standard industrial signals (4-20mA or 0-10V selectable) for PLC or DCS collection. The module utilizes a 24-bit Σ-Δ type ADC with resolution exceeding 1/10,000, capable of capturing extremely weak sensor signal changes.
The built-in digital filtering algorithm effectively suppresses common 50/60Hz industrial frequency interference and voltage fluctuations caused by motor start-stop, ensuring smooth and stable output signals. The module features a wide operating temperature range of 0°C to +50°C, with power input supporting 24V DC (allowable fluctuation range of 18-30V). Input terminals include overvoltage, reverse connection, and short-circuit protection to prevent wiring errors from damaging the module.

The MDB-5E is widely used in industrial weighing fields requiring high precision and stability. Typical applications include: Pharmaceutical industry (weighing of reaction vessels, quantitative control of filling lines, raw material feeding with error less than 0.1%), Chemical industry (material ratio matching and reaction process monitoring using closed-loop control), Food and beverage industry (weighing of mixing tanks and metering of packaging lines).
The module supports zero point and full-scale adjustments through external potentiometer or digital interface, facilitating on-site calibration. Some systems support HART communication protocol, allowing remote parameter reading and diagnosis through 4-20mA loop, significantly improving maintenance efficiency. Installation options include DIN rail mounting or onboard fixed installation.
