The idea of ecological civilization focuses on promoting the green development of energy

Deeply grasp the significance of green energy development

 To build a beautiful China and promote Chinese-style modernization, we must unswervingly accelerate the green transformation of energy and promote economic and social development on the basis of clean, efficient and sustainable use of energy and resources.

Green energy development is an inherent requirement for high-quality development.  China's secondary energy consumption is high, the energy structure is more coal, energy intensity is still 1.4 times the world average level. In the coming period, to promote national modernization and achieve high-quality development, it is not feasible to follow the old path of high energy consumption and high emissions of developed countries, and it is difficult to continue the path of relying mainly on fossil energy in the past. We must fully, accurately and comprehensively implement the new development concept, accelerate the green transformation of the development model, and strive to break the energy, resources and environmental constraints facing the construction of a modern country. It is necessary to promote the transformation and upgrading of the traditional energy industry, vigorously develop green energy, accelerate the adjustment and optimization of the energy structure, strengthen the conservation and intensive use of energy, promote the green transformation of economic and social development through green energy development, and achieve high-quality development.

The green development of energy is a strategic choice to shape the new advantages of development.  Energy technology is an important driving force of the industrial revolution, and each technological innovation has greatly improved the way human society uses energy and achieved leapfrog development of productivity. At present, a new round of scientific and industrial revolution is deepening, and green and low-carbon technology is a key field. We must maintain that innovation is the primary driving force, consolidate and enhance the competitiveness of competitive industries such as new energy, strengthen research and development in low-carbon, zero-carbon-negative frontier technologies, advance energy transformation and reform, and strengthen China's development of new drivers and new advantages.

The green development of energy is the only way to achieve harmonious coexistence between man and nature.  To move from an industrial civilization to an ecological civilization, we must coordinate industrial restructuring, pollution control, ecological protection, and climate change responses, work together to reduce carbon, reduce pollution, expand green space, and grow, and actively yet prudently promote peak carbon neutrality. Energy activities are closely related to economic and social development and the ecological environment. We must respect, adapt to and protect nature, give priority to ecological and green development, accelerate the formation of green and low-carbon energy production and utilization methods, and open the road to ecological civilization.

The green development of energy is an inevitable requirement for the sustainable development of the Chinese nation.  All along, fossil energy has provided the foundation and driving force for economic and social prosperity and development, and effectively ensured the realization of the first centenary Goal on schedule. However, fossil energy is not renewable, to achieve the goal of strengthening the country, national rejuvenation, and promote the continuity of Chinese civilization, we need to take a sustainable energy development path. We must follow the global development trend, accelerate the planning and construction of a new energy system, make non-fossil energy the main source of energy, achieve energy security in nature, and provide inexhaustible driving force for the sustainable development of the Chinese nation.

Historic achievements have been made in the green development of energy in the new era

 It has made important contributions to the bluer sky, greener mountains and cleaner water of China.

Clean energy has developed by leaps and bounds. China vigorously promotes the development and utilization of non-fossil energy, and constantly adjusts and optimizes the energy structure. The scale of production and development continues to expand, and the installed capacity of non-fossil energy power generation has exceeded 1.3 billion kilowatts, a three-fold increase in 10 years, accounting for more than 50% of the country's total installed power generation capacity. The installed capacity of hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic, biomass power generation, and nuclear power under construction ranks first in the world, and the installed capacity of wind power photovoltaic has exceeded 100 million kilowatts for three consecutive years, and the annual power generation has exceeded 1 trillion kilowatt hours. The level of trans-provincial and regional allocation of clean energy has been significantly improved, and the scale of power transmission from west to east has exceeded 300 million kilowatts, an increase of more than 1.6 times that of 10 years ago. Clean energy consumption continued to improve, and the average utilization rate of wind power and photovoltaic power generation in 2022 was about 97% and 98%, respectively, an increase of 12 and 9 percentage points compared with the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan". By 2022, the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption will reach 17.5%, an increase of nearly 8 percentage points in 10 years, which will effectively drive the average annual decline of coal consumption by more than 1 percentage point.
