Forecast analysis of market status and development prospects of China's chemical fiber industry in 2021

Market size

China's chemical fiber manufacturing industry started in the 1950s, and China has become the world's largest producer of chemical fiber. Chemical fiber industry has become an industry with international competitive advantages in China, is an important pillar industry of the national economy, high performance, bio-based chemical fiber raw materials and fiber manufacturing is also an important part of China's strategic emerging industries. From 2015 to 2020, the total output of China's chemical fiber industry increased from 48.3171 million tons to 61.679 million tons, with an overall upward trend, and the total output is expected to reach 63.978 million tons in 2021.

From the main varieties of chemical fiber production in China, polyester is the highest proportion of chemical fiber. According to the 2020 "Chemical Fiber Blue Book", the proportion of polyester production in the total output of the national chemical fiber industry in 2019 is 81.53%; Followed by viscose fiber, the output accounted for 7.08%.

Future development trend

1. Differentiated and functional fibers

Differential fiber refers to chemical fiber that has some or more special functions different from ordinary conventional properties by changing physical form, adding modifiers, composite spinning and other methods, including colored, fine, fine, shaped cross section, hollow, high strength and low shrinkage. And the fiber with anti-mildew, luminous, far infrared, flame retardant, anti-static, anti-ultraviolet anti-aging, antibacterial, conductive and other functions. Differential fibers further improve and expand the performance and variety of chemical fiber materials, but also improve the performance of the corresponding fiber products, the development of differential fibers to promote the appearance, form, performance and other special requirements of the textile development.

2. Bio-based chemical fibers

Bio-based fiber is made from agricultural, forest, Marine waste and by-products, and is a kind of fiber derived from renewable biomass. Bio-based chemical fiber is green, environmentally friendly, renewable raw materials and biodegradable and other excellent characteristics, help to solve the current global economic and social development facing the shortage of resources and energy, environmental pollution and other problems. Therefore, accelerating the research and development of bio-based chemical fiber and its raw material industry has become one of the current research hotspots.

In the future, the focus of the development of bio-based chemical fibers is to break through the manufacturing of key equipment for the industrialization of bio-based chemical fibers, overcome the technical bottleneck of the industrialization of bio-based chemical fibers and raw materials, achieve the large-scale production of bio-based chemical fibers, and further expand the application in the field of clothing, home textiles and industrial textiles.

3. Recycle and reuse chemical fiber

Chemical fiber recycling is a sunrise industry that conforms to the national green development and the international sustainable development direction. Based on the principle of "reduction, reuse and resource utilization" (3R), non-degradable waste resources are treated and reused to reduce the use of petrochemical resources and reduce carbon emissions. With the development of the industry, more and more consumers accept the concept of circular and sustainable development, and begin to recognize recycled products. Therefore, the expansion and application of recycled products has become an inevitable trend, and the application scope has covered nonwovens, carpets, home textiles, automotive textiles and other fields. Green, ecological and recycled fiber is becoming an emerging industry with both social and economic benefits.

Future development prospect

1. Strong support from national policies

The "13th Five-Year Plan" Scientific and Technological Progress Outline of the Textile Industry lists "high-performance polyester industrial silk preparation technology", "Nylon 66 fiber large-scale preparation and functional product development" and "PLA fiber" as scientific and technological research and industrialization projects of the "13th Five-Year Plan" textile industry. "Chemical fiber industry" 13th Five-Year "development guidance" put forward efforts to improve the conventional chemical fiber modification technology and new product research and development level, focus on improving the flame retardant, antibacterial, chemical resistance, UV resistance and other conventional fibers such as polyester, nylon, recycled cellulose fibers, improve the functional, differential fiber varieties proportion. The continuous introduction of industrial policies has pointed out the general direction of future development for enterprises in the industry, and will also support the better and faster development of China's chemical fiber industry.

2. The application field is constantly expanding

With the continuous expansion of fiber application fields and the enhancement of people's consumption power, the total amount of global fiber processing is growing at an average annual rate of about 3%. The implementation of the "Made in China 2025" national strategy and the "Internet +" action plan has accelerated the differentiated, intelligent and green development of China's chemical fiber industry. High-performance, differentiated, ecological fiber applications are constantly expanding to transportation, new energy, medical and health, infrastructure, security protection, environmental protection, aerospace and other industrial fields. With the deep adjustment of China's economic structure and opening up to the outside world, the acceleration of the urbanization process, and the upgrading of personalized, differentiated and functional demand represented by the middle class, elderly consumption, young fashion, etc., the adjustment of the industry's supply side product structure will accelerate, bringing space and opportunities for the overall quality and efficiency improvement of the industry and the development of high-quality production capacity.
