EATON MVX9000 Variable Frequency Drive

Product Overview

Cutler Hammer, a subsidiary of Eaton's electrical business ®  The MVX9000 sensor vector variable frequency drive is an AC speed control device based on a 32-bit microprocessor and IGBT technology, designed specifically for precise speed control of three-phase induction motors. This series of drivers covers a power range from 0.25HP to 10HP and supports multiple voltage levels such as 115V, 230V, 460V, and 575V, meeting the needs of industrial automation, HVAC, water pumps, fans, and other applications.

MVX9000 adopts sensorless vector control technology, which can achieve high starting torque and excellent low-speed performance without the need for an encoder. Its compact structure, simple installation method, and rich standard configuration make it an ideal choice for occasions with strict requirements for installation space.


Core Technology and Performance Characteristics

1. Sensor vector control

MVX9000 adopts advanced sensor vector control algorithm, combined with automatic tuning function, which can achieve:

200% starting torque: ensuring the reliability of heavy-duty starting

Precise low-speed control: able to maintain stable torque output near zero speed

Speed regulation accuracy: ± 0.5% base speed, meeting the requirements of precision speed regulation

Constant torque and variable torque modes: suitable for different load characteristics

2. IGBT inverter technology

The use of insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) as power switching devices has the following advantages:

Low noise operation: high carrier frequency reduces motor electromagnetic noise

High efficiency: The typical value of the overall efficiency exceeds 95%

Smooth output waveform: reduce motor harmonic losses and temperature rise

3. Wide frequency range

The output frequency can be set arbitrarily between 0.1 and 400Hz to meet the requirements of special high-speed or low-speed applications.

4. Overload capacity

The standard configuration has a 150% overload capacity that lasts for 60 seconds, ensuring that it does not trip under short-term impact loads.

Operation interface and human-computer interaction

1. Detachable numeric keypad

The MVX9000 comes standard with a detachable keyboard with a 4-character LED display, providing the following functions:

Status display: frequency, current, user-defined parameters

Diagnostic information: Last 3 fault records and causes

LED indicator lights: 7 status LEDs (run/stop, forward/reverse, Hz, A, etc.)

Operation keys: start/stop, speed control (digital or potentiometer), reset, programming keys

2. Programming and Debugging

The keyboard layout is clear, the parameter grouping is reasonable, and it supports online modification and storage. Users can complete all parameter settings through the keyboard without the need for additional software.

3. Remote operation options

Remote keyboard kit (MVXRMM) can be selected to achieve cabinet door installation and facilitate on-site operation.


Input/output and control functions

1. Analog input

2-channel programmable analog input: supports 0-10V DC or 4-20mA signals

10V DC reference power supply: used for external potentiometers (1-2k Ω)

2. Digital input

6-way programmable digital input: configurable for start/stop, forward/reverse, jog, fault reset, multi-stage speed selection, and other functions

3. Output signal

1 programmable digital output: open collector

1-channel programmable relay output: C-type contact (normally open+normally closed), can be used for fault alarm, operation indication, etc

1-channel analog monitoring output: selectable frequency or current signal

4. PID control

Equipped with a built-in PID regulator, it can directly perform closed-loop control on process variables such as pressure, flow rate, temperature, and liquid level without the need for an external controller.

5. Multi speed and frequency hopping

7 preset speeds: selected through a combination of digital inputs

3 jumping frequencies: adjustable width to avoid mechanical resonance points

6. Acceleration and deceleration control

Independently adjustable acceleration/deceleration time: 0.1 to 3000 seconds

S-curve acceleration and deceleration: optional, suitable for devices sensitive to acceleration changes

7. Braking function

Built in DC brake: Inject DC current during shutdown to achieve rapid braking

Dynamic braking unit: built-in chopper, can be connected with external braking resistor (optional)

8. Communication interface

RS-485 serial communication: standard configuration, supports Modbus RTU protocol

DeviceNet module: optional (MVXDNN) for easy access to industrial networks

MVX9000 can also provide multiple levels of protection for enclosed models, suitable for harsh industrial environments.

NEMA 4X: Waterproof, corrosion-resistant, made of stainless steel material (304 or 316)
