IbaFOB io ExpressCard Professional Analysis: Empowering Fiber Performance for Mobile Measurement

It perfectly inherits the high-performance characteristics of ibaFOB-io-D card, while utilizing the ExpressCard slot widely equipped in modern laptops to achieve a combination of portability and powerful functionality.

The models described in this manual include ibaFOB io ExpressCard/54 and ibaFOB io ExpressCard/34, which differ only in their external dimensions to accommodate different specifications of ExpressCard slots (54mm and 34mm). Their core functions and operating methods are completely consistent.

Hardware requirements: IBM PC compatible laptop computer with ExpressCard/54 or ExpressCard/34 slots. Recommended configuration is a Pentium IV/3 GHz or higher performance processor, with at least 512 MB of memory.

Software requirements: The operating system supports 32-bit versions of Microsoft Windows XP, Server 2003, Server 2008, Vista, and Windows 7. The supporting software must use ibaPDA-V6.24.0 or higher, as well as ibaLogic-V4.

High speed data transfer: Using DMA (Direct Memory Access) technology, measurement data can be directly written into system memory without CPU intervention, significantly reducing CPU load and improving data processing efficiency.

Multi protocol support: Automatically detects and supports all current and traditional ibaNet communication protocols, including 2 Mbit/s, 3.3 Mbit/s, 5 Mbit/s, 32 Mbit/s, and 32 Mbit Flex protocols, ensuring compatibility with new and old devices.

High signal density: A single fiber optic link can transmit up to 512 analog signals and 512 digital signals, with a sampling time range from 10 microseconds to 2 milliseconds, meeting a wide range of application requirements from low-speed process monitoring to high-speed transient capture.

Plug and play: supports hot swapping, convenient for on-site use.

Connector: Provides 2 ST type fiber optic interfaces (1 x input RX, 1 x output TX), using 62.5/125 μ m multimode fiber.

Power consumption and indication: Powered through the ExpressCard slot, the typical power consumption is only 1.5 W. The board integrates 4 LED status indicators to indicate operating status, link speed, and error messages.

Storage/transportation temperature: -25 ° C to 70 ° C (-13 ° F to 158 ° F)

Hardware installation and driver configuration

IbaFOB io ExpressCard supports plug and play, which can be installed or removed while the computer is running without shutting down.

Installation steps:

Insert hardware: Insert the card smoothly into the ExpressCard slot of the laptop until it clicks into the internal connector. After correct insertion, the green LED will start flashing and the red LED will briefly light up and then turn off (if the driver is not installed, the red LED will continue to light up).

Driver installation: When first inserted, the Windows system will pop up the "Discover New Hardware" wizard. Please follow the prompts to complete the driver installation. To ensure that the driver is correctly recognized, it is recommended to install ibaPDA-V6 (≥ 6.24.0) or ibaLogic-V4 software before inserting the card.

Verify installation: After installation is complete, you can check whether the card is listed correctly through Windows Device Manager. If the card does not appear, it indicates that there is a problem with the driver installation and you need to contact IBA technical support.
