The LAUER PCS009 is an ultra‑compact operator control panel designed for small industrial machines and simple automation tasks. It provides a clear alphanumeric display and a tactile keypad, enabling operators to view machine status, adjust setpoints, and acknowledge alarms. The panel is ideal for packaging equipment, conveyor systems, and laboratory instruments where space is at a premium.
The terminal features a 2‑line by 16‑character LCD with an LED backlight (yellow‑green). The contrast is adjustable via a front‑panel trimmer. The display supports standard ASCII characters. The membrane keypad includes 8 keys: 4 directional arrows, Enter, Escape, and two function keys (F1, F2). Keys are tactile and rated for 200,000 operations. The front overlay is IP54 rated for protection against dust and splashes.
The panel provides a single RS‑232 serial port (9‑pin D‑sub) with baud rates from 2400 to 115200 bps, configurable parity, and data format. Supported protocols include LAUER proprietary, Modbus RTU (slave), and ASCII transparent mode. An optional RS‑485 adapter is available for multi‑drop networks.
Onboard flash memory (32 KB) stores up to 16 user‑defined screens, each containing static text and numeric variables (integer or float). The terminal manages 32 internal registers and supports 16 alarm messages. Configuration is performed using the LAUER PCS‑Config software (version 1.0 or higher), which offers a simple screen editor and communication setup wizard.

Prepare the panel cut‑out, insert the unit, and secure with spring clips. Connect the 24 V power supply (two‑pin terminal) and the RS‑232 cable (pin 2: RX, pin 3: TX, pin 5: GND). Apply power – adjust contrast if needed. Download the application using the configuration software via the serial port. The panel will restart and run the new screens.
Clean the front overlay with a soft cloth. No internal battery. Common faults: “No Communication” – check cable and baud rate; “Blank Display” – adjust contrast or check power. For persistent issues, restore factory defaults via software.
The standard model is PCS009‑G (green backlight). Optional red backlight and extended temperature range are available. Specify any custom key legends when ordering.
