Lauer PCS 810-1 Operator Terminal
The Lauer PCS 810-1 (model 8101) is a compact yet powerful operator terminal that bridges the gap between simple text displays and full-featured panel PCs. With its 8-inch TFT color screen and intuitive touch interface, it provides operators with clear situational awareness and control over machinery and processes. This terminal is ideally suited for OEMs and system integrators who require a cost-effective HMI without compromising on functionality or connectivity.

Functional Features
The PCS 810-1 supports a wide array of communication drivers, including Modbus RTU/TCP, Siemens S7 (MPI/PPI/Profibus), Allen-Bradley DF1, Mitsubishi FX, and Omron Host Link. This broad compatibility allows direct connection to most industrial controllers without additional gateways. The panel's internal logic engine enables execution of simple automation tasks, such as conditional actions, math operations, and data logging, reducing the load on the main PLC.
Application development is facilitated by Lauer Configurator Basic, which offers a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface, a comprehensive symbol library, and simulation mode for offline testing. The terminal supports up to 255 screens, each with dynamic objects like bar graphs, meters, and animated graphics. Alarm handling includes configurable priority levels, acknowledgment, and historical logging. Up to 2,000 alarm entries and 10,000 data log records can be stored in the internal memory or on a microSD card.
Additional features include screen saver with power-saving mode, adjustable touch calibration, and a password system with up to 10 user levels. The Ethernet port also supports FTP for file transfer and SMTP for email notifications on critical alarms.
Installation Guidelines
Mount the terminal in a panel cutout using the supplied spring clips. Ensure the sealing gasket is properly seated to achieve IP65 protection. Connect the 24 V DC power supply using a fused (1 A) circuit. Shielded cables are recommended for RS485 and Ethernet; the shield should be grounded at the panel side. The RS485 network must be terminated with 120 Ω resistors at both ends for long-distance communication.
For software upload, use the USB device port or Ethernet. The microSD card slot supports hot-swapping for data backup. Ensure adequate clearance (at least 50 mm) around the rear housing for ventilation.
Operating Conditions
This terminal is rated for indoor industrial use with ambient temperatures from 0 to 50 °C. It can withstand vibration of 0.5 g (10–150 Hz) and shock of 10 g (11 ms) per IEC 60068. The LED backlight has a typical lifespan of 40,000 hours. The unit incorporates over-temperature protection and will display a warning if internal temperature exceeds 55 °C.
Applications
Common applications include small packaging machines, labeling systems, filling stations, conveyor control, test benches, and HVAC systems. It is also used as a local display for drive parameterization and as a data concentrator in distributed I/O networks.
Compliance and Certifications
CE certified, UL recognized (UL 61010-1), and RoHS compliant. Meets EN 61000-6-2 (immunity) and EN 61000-6-4 (emission) standards.
Ordering Information
Variants include options with integrated Profibus DP, CANopen, or Ethernet/IP modules. Extended temperature range and higher brightness versions are available upon request. Custom splash screens and default configurations can be factory-loaded.
